I have to admit I never expected to see Waid write Damian Wayne.

I think Batman vs Robin is replacing ongoing and after it ends Waid (or someone else) will just continue writing the book.
Waid has experience of writing teenage heroes, so, it's not that surreal. Technically, he created Damian, well, sort of.

Every time DC makes a book I enjoy with Damien in it, they make sure to cancel it just when I start feeling like I can enjoy the kid.

I think Damien is best used as coffin stuffing 99% of the time, so for me it may as well be ending. I'll give the new team a try, but it was Williamson and few others who made me actually enjoy books with the Bat Brat in them.
