I really hope the Milestone characters can find success. If the Static movie is a hit and so is that animated movie, good! I’m worried that rebooting the Milestone characters outside of the main DCU was a mistake, but if outside adaptions can attract interest then hopefully they can keep going.

But . . . Milestone was originally outside of the main DCU.

Back in the last century when Milestone first began, DC released the books, but DC didn't own any of the Milestone properties.

I know, but it isn’t the 90s. Milestone came out at a time when comics were experiencing a boom, that’s not the case anymore. The Milestone books haven’t been big sellers, part of that can be blamed on DC letting the properties languish and part can be blamed on the founders ending up in court, but I also think part can be that because these characters aren’t in the main DCU, that some customers don’t view them as “mattering”.

Static got his own tv show WITHOUT being linked to DC.

DC had their shots with Milestone and FOUND ways to screw it up. Thank Harvey Richards and editors who would NOT let writers use anyone and DC for not making it clear they only wanted to use Static and wasted everyone's money on legal fees. A point McDuffie made.

Rebooting they outside of DC was the only thing they could do. Because you have your FREEDOM to do what you want.

And on the DC side it FORCES them to invest in black characters. Something they refused to do in the 90s. Since aside from Black Lightning's illfated 1995 series. They did not release a new black lead book during Milestone's time. Steel & GL Mosaic were already around. While Marvel tossed out 5. While they were looking at bankruptcy.

And we saw what DC did to Priest's Xero. They had 20 years to use him and keep his rights. Now Priest has a Xero movie coming out and DC has NOTHING.

DC had their shots. That same toxic management that ruined Titans and so many others can be thanked for that.

I feel like Abnett's run had stable sales and a lot of eyeballs when Sejic started drawing it (even if people were so tired of Corum Rath and "Arthur loses the throne" for the umpteenth time).

KSD's seemed like it was enjoyed critically, but not commercially.
I'd place my money on Abnett's run. I think it was much better than Bunn's run, but to me it wasn't good either and I think that Abnett currently is the writer with the most Aquaman issues under his belt? So basically I think that characters like Aquaman can survive few months of bad issues, but an extended mediocre run does more long term damage.

It did have a lot of DC guest stars and was retroactively made part of the DCAU, although I guess that came later.

So hey Round Robin is back this year, good news for some that there are no Batman or Batfamily related books listed at all. So get out there and vote or else I’ll make Captain Carrot win

    https://aiptcomics.com/2022/03/29/dc...bin-2022-vote/

    This year we got
    HAWKMAN & HAWKWOMAN: THE CHANGELING
    WILDCAT: NINE LIVES
    THE QUESTIONS: GRAND SOLUTION
CONSTANTINE & THE DEMON: VACATION FROM HELL
    SUICIDE SQUAD: DARK
    JUSTICE LEAGUE [REDACTED]
    FIRESTORM: FOURTH WORLD PROBLEMS
KID FLASH: THE SPEED OF FEAR
    BLACK CANARY: WHEN CANARIES CRY
GREEN LANTERN: THE LIGHT AT THE END OF FOREVER
DC HORROR PRESENTS: GHOST TOUR FROM HELL
    ANIMAL MAN: THE METAMORPHOSIS
GREEN LANTERN: THE BIRTH OF CONSPIRACY
CAPTAIN CARROT & HIS BEST FRIEND DARKSEID
    SUPERBOY: THE MAN OF TOMORROW
    CYBORG: CYBER GODS
"It's fun and it's cool, so that's all that matters. It's what comics are for, Duh."
    Words to live by.

Oh, fun. I'd read most of those, and there's no Obvious Winner to make everyone sulky.

    (But "Questions" should obviously win.)
