How can everything have happened for Steve Trevor, who was Diana's love interest, except for the reality where he wasn't, was much older and married Etta Candy. Who is both a straight white woman and a black lesbian. Or Donna Troy who was an orphan raised on Paradise Island, then a magic copy of Diana, then whatever she is now...another statue brought to life I think.
Or Lex Luthor who has both been in and out of prison since he was a teenager and was also a respected corporate businessman with a clean record.
    The reboots are also canon

So after the Crisis, Earth 1 Steve was reborn as Nam veteran Steve with a new history and married Etta Candy, then after Flashpoint happened, he's reborn as a younger Steve and Etta is now black, both with new, different history, and then Doomsday Clock, Death Metal happened... same thing happened. They got a new history again, some of it the same, some new.

So does Etta know that she was white and married to Steve ?

No idea, I haven't read Wonder Woman, but, normally they don't remember the previous lives.

In Death Metal, Wonder Woman lasso unlocked the memory (of the characters still fighting) that they used to have previous lives, then after the battle, Barry said they will experience flashes of past lives. In Infinite Frontier Cameron Chase implied some people remember some don't, but they don't go into details and I don't remember the follow up.

She looks like this weird mix of being as quirky as the comics and also trying to look too much cooler than the comics .

Donna inherited Diana's old clay origin in New 52, yeah, but New 52 Wonder Woman has been pretty much invalidated. I would imagine she's back to her first or second origin now.

I’ve been reading comics since the early 90s and enjoyed continuity at times, but it’s all gotten so hard to track give the number of stories and titles and iterations of characters over time.

I like the “everything happened” approach when it’s centered on whichever iteration of the character is currently happening and I just adjust the rest with my mind and suspension of disbelief.

I think the most we can expect now for continuity is what Marvel has done in their movies. They’ve managed to keep things tied together - and even that will need to get rebooted/reinterpreted again at some point.

It’s easier to do in a set of movies and television series, than the entirety of comics history. My imagination is where I help them and myself out.

I kinda like it. It seems in character and the combination of colors is good. It would be something that Maxine would wear in the main continuity of comics in my opinion and I love the stripes behind the legs, it's a good homage to the stripped stocks.

So would that invalidate what Rucka tried to cobble together at the start of Rebirth?

And is current belief that Diana first came to the U.S. in the 1930s or sometime in the 21st Century, and did Steve come with her then?

I guess it would fit as an "adult" costume for her.

I feel like the only chance we'd have had for a full comic-accurate costume would be the Stargirl show.

I like the comic costume of Cyclone but let's be honest and realistic, trying to adapt it, especially with the character's powerset, would be total hell. I really doubt that any actress would be comfortable wearing it and performing action scenes. Not all costumes can be perfectly accurate because of many different issues and reasons, and Cyclone's is one of those biggest examples.

Last time I checked was a few weeks (or was it months) ago, but up until that point they haven't mentioned her origin or how it relates to Steve. The comics just continue where they left off in Rebirth. Both Steve and Etta look their Rebirth age. I honestly sometimes forget that she's supposed to debut in 1938 because I thought they haven't followed up on that since Doomsday Clock, and because that was a 5G plan, so I assumed that was scrapped.

(Diana is long living regardless. She's born hundreds or thousands of years ago, and so is Grail and Jason, but in Rucka only got to go to man's land in modern day)

Oh this is interesting. The newest Wonder Woman preview has the villain refer to Diana as clay.
(Trial of Amazons refer to Echidna beheaded by Hippolyta. That happened in Post Crisis. I figured they brought Post Crisis lore since they brought back Doom's Doorway but I don't know the details)

I mean, I don't think it would be that hard give or take some modifications (maybe not as dramatic as the movie costume). Most people probably didn't think you could adapt Supergirl's comic costume successful into live-action (even compared to the movie).
