We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, JANUARY 2022!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

One thing has become painfully clear to famed crustacean sidekick Crablad: Atlantis needs its Aquaman! Tensions between Atlantis and the surface world have escalated, especially when it’s revealed that Black Manta is covertly working with Cerulean Lantern Cultists to destabilize Surface-Underwater relations! Mera tells him to stand down while she attempts to find Arthur, but Crablad isn’t one to sit around just twiddling his pincers! When he goes after Black Manta alone, will he find himself… in hot water?
Meanwhile, Mera makes the perilous trek to the Underworld - a journey that is usually one-way for mortals! The “Aquagod” Arthur Curry went missing there after preventing the overflow of the Rivers Styx and Acheron. His triumphs ended there. In the River Lethe, the river of forgetfulness, the former Aquaman now enjoys a humble life as a seaweed and kelp farmer with no recollection of his past, having succumbed to the waters’ memory erasing magic. Can Mera remind him of who he is?
The Lethe, however, doesn’t like when people try and do that. In fact, the Lethe has its own purportedly unstoppable enforcer to prevent it from happening. “Don’t you know who I am? I’m the Forget-Me-Naut, bitch!”

Will he bring his brother to justice to pay for all of those murders he committed?
Back in Tinisha, agents Kia Okura, Dakota Johnson and Rick Flagg continue their investigation into Lena Killian, CEO of Osiris Inc. Kia is certain that she is responsible not only for sending the assassin Ravager to kill her but also for the death of Dakota's former partner Steve Trevor! They know that her brother Usan Killian is the head of the criminal organization known as The Jackals, all they need to do is prove that she is behind them. So their best option is to take down The Jackals and then go after Lena herself! But they'd better be careful, Lena has already put a hit out one one agent and had another killed so none of them are safe!

Elsewhere, The Magus has finally tracked down the location of Connors' mother. He needs her help to get Connor to fulfill his destiny, not to just kill Richard Dragon but become the new leader of The Guild! But is The Magus ready to learn the identity of Connor's mother? Are we ready?

The British succeeded in taking the New Amsterdam settlement from the Dutch. They renamed it New York. A tad farther to the south, English swashbuckler Edmond Wayne came across a similar Dutch settlement, New Rotterdam… but it was almost completely abandoned. Why? There were whispers that the land was cursed by the displaced Miagani Tribe, with many settlers and traders going mad and committing heinous and bombastic acts of criminality. Edmond refused to give into fear, however, and with his rapier and whip he claimed the settlement for the crown, rechristening it… “Gotham.”
Soon Gotham was a bustling port, yet it quickly gained a reputation for lawlessness, vice, and avarice. Theatrical ne'er-do-wells such as the Pennington Lark, Swill-Belly Shipwright, and the Untamed Shrew plagued the nascent city. The Order of St. Dumas, a religious sect affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, beheld the sin permeating Gotham and wished to cleanse it. At first, Edmond welcomed the help of their congregation led by a missionary named Bakkar. Yet quickly the Order became overzealous, calling in their enforcer - a crusader with a flaming sword. An angel of death. Azrael!
When Azrael targets a seemingly innocent “coven of witches,” can Edmond Wayne expel the Order of St. Dumas from the city? And if so, at what cost?

The King is Dead! Long live the King!
Brion Markov, the Metahuman Geoforce, is now the King of Markovia. Although the Flash wasn’t fast enough to save Brion’s parents, he did team-up with the former Prince to defeat and capture their killer: the alien hired gun, Lobo! The modern world now has its first officially-recognized metahuman head-of-state and metas are being hailed in the press as heroes that stopped a violent non-human threat. Exactly as Vandal Savage planned!
The incident will further Savage’s aim of persuading every government on Earth to mandate the use of Stagg Enterprise’s Human Confirmation Test. While the test actually does perform as advertised - screening out aliens and demons and the like - it has a secret second function: identifying the presence of the metagene! This will allow Vandal to locate all of his far-removed heirs, of whom time and circumstance caused him to lose track, and identify potential subjects for meta-activation and recruitment. His end goal is an unstoppable army of metahumans that, under his command, will enforce humanity’s dominance at a galactic level - and he’s ready for his next big move. At this point, can anything slow him down?
Meanwhile, Barry learns why speedsters are so hated in Markovia. Could his heroic actions today help mend historic enmity? And whatever happened to the Soviet speedster Red Streak that caused the enmity in the first place? Investigative journalist Iris West has some ideas… but she might not like what she finds!

The Doomsday Virus. Martian Infiltration. Starro Invasion. Most recently, the tragedy in Markovia. These are only a few examples of the seemingly endless non-human threats that endanger our world with ever-increasing frequency.
Despite our many differences, all the nations of Earth are truly united by at least one thing: our mutual humanity. When we work together, for the good of the species, there is nothing - nothing - that we cannot accomplish. It has become undeniably clear that we can no longer rely on so-called “Guardians of the Universe” or law enforcement beholden to aliens on alien worlds with alien agendas to protect mankind. We have to do it ourselves. And we can!
To that end, I am pleased to announce the formation of the World Organization for Advancement of Humanity! This international coalition is designed to protect all of mankind from myriad non-human threats, including invasive aliens, menacing demons, malevolent gods, and fearsome monsters. Through W.O.A.H., the human race will have defenders with one, singular and sacred mission: to keep us all safe.
To make that possible, W.O.A.H. will recruit our best and brightest, as well as courageous metahumans, whose voluntary service and special gifts can benefit us all in miraculous ways. And no one embodies the spirit of W.O.A.H. more than the man selected to lead it. He is a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the hero who most recently held the line during the Doomsday Virus outbreak. You may know him as “Captain Atom,” but it is my pleasure to introduce him as Nathaniel Christopher Adam, Director of W.O.A.H.!
John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and Jessica Cruz watch on television as Captain Atom takes the stage and formalizes his new position. The Green Lantern Corps mission on Earth is about to change in more ways than they can anticipate. Is this the worst time for Atrocitus to make his presence known?

Hawkman and Hawkwoman are at the end of their ropes as the battle with the Gil'Dishpan and the Hykraians goes very poorly, and they are on the verge of losing with no hope of help. Just at the darkest moment, Aquaman and Mera appear to observe the battle before joining on the side of the Hawks. Will four superheroes be able to stop these alien allies of CAW from exploiting the Earth’s resources? Even more importantly, will the Hawks meeting other heroes go better than their miscommunications with the Batman.
Major Zastrow deals with the ubiquitous Carl Sands who has gained unusual powers as a result of his drugs and Venom mixing. It does not go well for the Russian and he is only able to send a brief message for help to Shayera and Katar. With our heroes somewhere under the Pacific, will that message get through to them?
The Hawks’ daughter Chay-Ara has passed her assignment from Checkmate and has managed to hide any involvement she had in breaking up the heroin ring within her school. Checkmate is of the impression that a suggestible anxious teen who has the capability to fly and has abilities greater than humans can be a valuable ally. Or tool, if accuracy is needed.

Jimmy and Lois enter the growing Kryptonite-Sunstone Hybrid inside Earth’s core, and they discover that there is a Kryptonite World inside, with not only Kryptonite Men and Kryptonite Dogs, but other animals as well. And at the heart of all these, is an Kryptonite World Engine created by Brainiac-13?
Brainiac-13 has laid his trap from the future, now it all ends!

His telepathic distress call has caught the attention of a minor 5th Dimensional imp with some time on its hands, and it wants to see Max work for his freedom.
•With the psi-dampeners turned off, Max makes contact with the other telepathic and empathic beings aboard: Princess KOMAND'R of Tamaran and human-Kherubim-Daemonite hybrid VOODOO. If they can make contact with an ancient Kryptonian artifact that the Psions have been trying to bring back online, they may be able to take over the ship, but they'll also need the help of a psychic black hole, the head-blind Martian MA'ALEFA'AK.
•As they near the mad maws of the outer dark, will they be able to free themselves in time or will their collective sanity be an apéritif for eldritch beings about to consume this galaxy?

The Miracle Machine was activated a month ago on Mars, and its effect is felt through the United Planets. New Meta-people have been emerging through the United Planets.
Legion World, 3022, the Sun-Eater is now their ally. Saturn Girl visits the Controller in their science cell. Saturn Girl reveals that there is a God inside the Cosmic Egg, and this is not the time for the God to come out yet. The Controller reveals that the Star Child in the Cosmic Egg is waiting for a New God.
Earth, 4022, the Last Son of Earth steps into the time machine, and travels back to Earth, 3021, right before Earth is destroyed. He emerges from the time machine as the new Superboy. This is his secret origin.

Ben remembers the last time he had an encounter with Batman and it wasn't pretty. He tells Mark that he'll come meet him in Gotham but if Batman gets in his way again, this time he will kill him! The three of them are outgunned and outmanned. But if they don’t stop the Dead Man, Marcus Moore, tonight, the whole world will suffer.
As the desperate trio begin to successfully disable to cargo planes that were to ship out Xenothium weapons worldwide, Marcus Moore loses his patience. He isn’t about to let Dick Grayson steal victory out from under him a second time.
He’s saved the deadliest Xenothium weapons for himself… and it’s time to use them!
The chaos in the Nightwing Syndicate compound escalates to pandemonium as the Dead Man unleashes his arsenal without regard for friendly fire or collateral damage.
Dick draws his attention, providing Red X and Nightwing the opportunity to take the rest of the Xenothium out of commission!
Realizing what they’ve done… Moore goes from angry to furious.
The Dead Man beats Nightwing to within an inch of her life, and prepares to deliver the final blow… only for Red X to take the shot instead!
This apparent sacrifice gives Dick the opening he needs to sneak past Moore’s defenses and end things, once and for all!
The question is: how? Does Dick give into the anger and pain, striking a mortal blow? Or has Dick found his way back to his old, merciful self?
Putting it succinctly: who is Dick Grayson, really? Is he Nightwing, or is he Red X?

“Where in the World is Charles Victor Szasz?” Part 4: “Don't You Stop, Don't You Wonder Why?”
Vic’s in Detroit, Michigan. Since the reputation of Detroit is as Hub City-like as any except arguably Gotham and our newly installed TV guru is doing some late-night research into urban problems and items he can use for somewhat intelligent conversation. While surfing the interwebs, a window appears and a young woman’s face appears talking directly to him. She says her name is Alice Tesla and she knows about a criminal conspiracy to control the state’s voting outcomes. In return for protection and a promise to get her into Hub City University to finish her degree, she will provide Vic with a complete package of data and proof.
Cat Grant also schedules Vic to spend the night on Fox Island in Monroe, MI, also known as Dog Lady Island to see if the legend of the Dog Lady who ran with and was eventually turned on by her pack is really true and if Dog Lady’s fiery red eyes actually appear. Alice popping in that night to see Vic and being caught by the crew sparks rumors of fake news and/or sexual impropriety. Can Vic and Alice get out of this, or will he be the one seeing red on Dog lady Island.
Also, Vic buys a 2022 Chevy Spark to make himself look good to the people of Detroit because, well, he needs to good press.
