That is why it is so sad that Mike Carey declined the offer to come back to the X-Office.
I am really sad about that.
He did great work on all within the team, as well as onm the Children of the Fault (where is that 2nd Generation with Cadena by the way?) and on Hellion, Anole and Indra.

Supernovas is indeed iconic.
I can't say I'm much of a fan of villains joining the X-Men in most cases, as ironic as that is coming from a Rogue fan, but at least this team gave a quasi-nice explanation for their premise instead of just trying to write them off "we'll ignore all their horrible crimes, because the past is the past!" like Krakoa.
I finally got around to at least opening this so far and man, this is some top notch bachalo. Carey really did have a lot of strong concepts but this was definitely a love letter to rogue, but a great one.
Don't let anyone else hold the candle that lights the way to your future because only you can sustain the flame.

I hope they will revisit this plotline ... Serafina was (is) such a badass villain.

This was a dope cover from this run…
Apparently somebody changed the coloring (which was purple on the original cover) as well as the header to say Cable now instead of X-men. But I loved that cover a lot. Loved this whole run honestly.
I really loved this era under Mike Carey. His stories were engaging, refreshing, and he had some great takes on characters that had been feeling stale for a decade. New villains with new motives vs a rehash of the same tired villain(s) with the same tired motives.
- Cable really felt like he was back home in the X-Men with a good purpose and angle.
- Iceman really flourished under Mike and was given some compelling arcs (which in retrospect are now even more interesting and funny)
- Sam grew on me as a character
- Mystique came off as a more developed character
The inclusion of Omega Sentinel and Lady Mastermind, and then the REVEAL.....gurl that is how you do it
The Children of the Vault were everything Claremont wanted the Neo to be but better
- Giving Rogue leadership as well as better control of her powers was huge for her and us. I will say the only down side to Carey writing Rogue was there were times I found it beyond reason that Rogue would be better and more power using someone else's abilities (when copied) than them. That was a stretch, but overall amazing.
One of my favorite X-stories and in love with the Children of the Vault as a result.
They truly are a sleeping giant, not just for the X-Men but, the Marvel Universe as a whole. I think they are easily threats for the Avengers, FF, Spider-man, etc.
"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."- Jesus
John 14:6
Absolutely, they are a planetary level threat , not just for X-Men but even Avengers, FF and the rest ,although they don't have the recognition of some other adversaries, for me they are best comic book villains in Marvel because they always surprise you as they are so many of them to consider, an army 3000 strong!
