Those fight sequences have aged poorly for me.

Regardless of choreography, Bone is presented as a guy who does really well against experienced fighters. He dances around most of them, the fights consisting of bursts of in-and-out attacks, some fast hands, that kind of thing, normally against (again) experienced fighters who nonetheless fall for his baits or swing haymakers. When he runs into someone who can matches up well with him (final boss), or someone who sees through his patterns (fourth video, 1:20 or so), it's a hard fight. His prison fight sequence is a textbook case of 'group of people who attack one at a time'. The only time he's facing two people literally at the same time is when he's attacking THEM, with an ugh double jump kick.

He's basically a very skilled human without any special feats, fighting against other humans of experience and skill. He dominates, but tends to take time to put people down (ie, no superhuman hitting power or such).

I foresee him having a serious problem with Daredevil, the Kingpin, the Punisher, Borne, Grey (who shows stuff on-camera that is pretty much impossible for normal humans to match), Morpheus (same). He'll make a fight of some of these matches, but I feel he's not taking majorities at all.

All of these people demonstrate some kind of edge over him. Matt fights multiple people simultaneously, fights people with swords and does just fine, dodges Bullseye's stuff, easily shows crazy martial arts skills on Bone's level, etc. He's also ridiculously tough. Kingpin's durability and strength, even if not Classic Fisk, is still greater than what we see from anyone in the movies above. Punisher eats damage like crazy in his appearances, fights multiple people and kills them, etc. Borne one-punches normals like they're nothing, has a couple of crazy fights that are honestly beyond anything we see in the above movies, and has a damage soak that's going to laugh off a lot of what Bone does. I've seen Grey's movies here, he's just beyond Bone. Morpheus, we have stuff for him that's beyond human ability.

I don't like Bone's odds against that group.

    No comment on River.

Can't speak to the others, haven't watched a lot with them or don't remember.

    Mileage may vary! :D

Really? Personally I think they’re still some of the best I’ve ever seen.

See, that’s why I like this movie. Because Bone is human. I like that he isn’t a blatant superhuman.

Bone can do that too. In the final fight Bone takes on James (who has a sword) with just a scabbard and beats him.

And that's cool - everyone has different tastes. ^_^

For me, they're dependent on a lot of 'stop-start' stuff, are in bursts, and tend to use a lot of flicky, snappy shots that are fast for the camera but real-world would be lacking. And jump-kicks. While many of his opponents just throw haymakers or, in the prison sequence, come at him effectively one at a time. Whereas I watch the Bourne fights, for example, or the Daredevil fights (especially the one with the assassin, season one, or the rain fight), and I see a whole lot of varied stuff, delivered fluidly but with power, and the fight is constant - it's not 'short burst of punches, reset'. Sure, there's some BS stuff like the flipping the air on occasion, but for the most part this sort of thing - to me - is more like how a real fight between two highly skilled individuals would go.

The characters are more superhuman, but the actual fight choreography is better from where I stand.

Put another way, the fights better (not perfectly) encapsulate the chaos and motion of a real fight, to me. Which is what I like to see - it may not be what others want in their movie fights, I understand!

    Mileage may vary! :)

And I'm fine with that. It's a good reason to enjoy the movie, for my money - I don't mind perfectly human characters! ^_^

But regardless of whether or not he's more human, or they're more superhuman, for me the fight choreography in the other stuff is superior (which isn't a reason to say 'They win!' in a Rumble, we're just discussing fight scene preferences).

That's something. In contrast, Matt fights against groups of guys armed with swords, often when two or more of them are attacking him at the same time (hospital fight sequence has at least a few times where Matt is dealing with two to three sword-armed ninja at the same time, and they're not coming at him one at a time). Now, that's season 2, which is out for the purpose of this thread, but I feel Matt's other stuff in season one still puts him over Bone.

    Also, mileage may vary.

I know not everything on the list but Elliot Spencer is my dude and quite deserving of bringing up the rear.

This is mostly just to reinforce the speed presentation.

Elliot also got launched by getting smacked in the head by one of those flying kiddie-car rides. He was concussed for the rest of the episode but a normal human would have been neck-snapped by a blow of that kind. He’s basically Bourne but faster.

    Some very good points there.

I haven’t seen Daredevil yet. Perhaps I’ll give it a try.

He probably gets wins over punisher bond and Elliot but that's all.

Shall we say it earns the R rating? I liked season 1 and 3, and the first half (pre Elektra) of season 2.
