Is it mentioned in the book that that alien is female or are we assuming that coz they are a nurse? jk

    Maybe the character is non-binary?

If this is the only type of representation we got then yes, it would be an issue. But Hal's just one of a fortunately increasing number so the more the merrier. Not all LGBTQ+ characters need to be a paragon of virtue after all.

Hell, that ****'s not even limited to gay characters. Remember when it was revealed that Impulse's title was intended by TPTB at DC to fail, and they got mad at its editor when it didn't?

I can understand this point of view. Especially so in cases like this one were the alien being is quite coded as female as it is, making it feel more like a "cheat" to say this is an expression of potential pansexuality.

That can be rectified in the future. The important thing is the license, if DC officially allows Hal to be pan, now it's just alien lady, but in the future, a different writer can pick it up and pair Hal with a guy, or an alien guy, or a trans person.

That is a positive way of looking at this. Just have to hope that's how things pan out in the future.

(And I swear! I didn't do that on purpose!)
