It occurs to me that there is no longer a Shazam family as of the new Shazam series. Could this be DC getting rid of the concept for the time being? Or do people expect everything to return back to normal after this mini?

I for one am happy for the family to be retired, or reintroduced properly without everyone feeling like a cardboard cut-out. Either make a team book or don't! Don't half-arse it!

It'll be interesting to see how long they push Mary solo before they inevitably bring Billy back.

Issue 4's solicit says that Mary has to rescue Darla, who went off investigating despite not having powers and got into trouble. Maybe she'll end up sharing the power again?

Yeah maybe, but I doubt it. It seems to me that she could have done that in the first issue, instead of going on about how much of a burden to her life being Shazam is.
