We all know what will happen to Ted Kord next. But we see him defiant up until the very end:

"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."

Byrne did an outstanding job with Artemis as well as adding quite a bit to Amazon lore

The Long Halloween had several choice moments, but the dichotomy of the before & after scenes involving Gotham's Trinity are an all-time favorite...

Never was much of a Loeb fan, but he did good work with the right artistic partner. Tim Sale sure is at the top of that list.

A hard scene to watch from the Infinite Crisis story. The Secret Society of Super-Villains get the jump on the Freedom Fighters and brutally maim, beat, and kill the team. Hard to see favorites like Uncle Sam, The Ray, The Human Bomb, and Phantom Lady taken down like that:

"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."

Yeah, not what I would call... awesome. More rock bottom.

Infinite Crisis is far from a favorite event of mine, too dark and negative for my tastes. And Johns sure enjoys his gore, however, it's definitly well written. You can feel the gravitas. I can imagine how cheap someone like Bendis would have written a scene like this. Not that it was enjoyable for any fans of those characters (as I was).

    Peace

I'll admit the moment was shocking. Tons of shocking moments in Infinite Crisis. However, as a casual DC fan, those moments made me pay attention. And ultimately, Johns is optimistic. The good guys somehow win. It's hard fought, but a win nonetheless.

I see something like that in how Kal-El and Kal-L teamed up against Superboy Prime and the ensuing debate over the meaning of "Superman":

"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."
