THE CBR COMMUNITY STANDARDS & RULES ~ So... what's your excuse now?
I wouldnt say the character has been damaged. He's currently enjoying being part of the very successful Doom Patrol. His time as big timer though? (which funninly enough, is because of Geoff Johns in the first place) is somewhat over. Johns is partially why Cyborg was part of the JL roster and now Johns is partially why Cyborg will not be part of the JL roster for the foreseeable future.
Endless wars, which ended with European countries establishing colonies, Independence wars like that of Algeria with France.
Something different but still relevant 80 years ago Germany "enslaved" half europe, millions ended killed, genocide, atrocities as never seen in history, people in gas chambers, nowadays the descendants have moved on. The survivors learned to reach out and live in peace. Occasionally you find some who haven't forgot but most of the people have. Nobody brings the subject anymore.
The problem in the U.S. is that the divisions cannot heal without real reach out. Seems often that there is neither any real attempt to do that from neither side. Seems convenient for both sides to keep things as they are.
This a little OT
Nothing systemic to an individual society? millions died on the madness of a theory of a superior race and you say nothing systemic? They overcame that despite the horrors it caused.
Jews are not anymore discriminated in Germany neither in any EU country despite millenia of discrimination and ghettoization. You don't find Jewish Ghettos anymore something common in Europe before WWII.
They have moved on. Occasionally you find some extreme fringe that is despised by the rest.
Romani people are still, especially in the former communist countries, they also tend to live apart in western countries never really wanting to integrate. That creates at times tension. Europe also had the IRA, ETA, but they managed to overcome the divisions.
As someone who has lived in the U.S. a country a I love, what I see is a division with no real attempt to heal that division. Racism is a big problem but at times the racist card is used unnecessary, even on petty issues. It should be used on serious issues only.
Unfortunately the U.S. sounds today like what European politics was 50/60 years, politics in the USA are 50 years backwards. The ones on the right are happy to be stupid with conspiracy theories etc, while the ones on the left think socialism is a solution, when in most democratic countries socialist parties hardly call themselves that way anymore or embrace those old fashion politics.
Until people in the US are seen as voting blocks that politicians play on, nothing will change.
these are her words
"will always believe he is innocent of these racist stories and fictitious allegations against him."
"I am a proud, beautiful, strong, and intelligent black woman from Louisiana and I ran to California to escape real racism," Dorsey said in a statement to the site. "Geoff has enjoyed and been a part of a black family since 2000 and someone’s bad feelings cannot erase that time nor the truth."
