Same characters, same powers, same basic story, BUT...

"Mortal Kombat" is defined as a very basic point fighting tournament held in a mini mall following common modern rules for such, using impartial referees. How does it go? Who can manage to go a round without getting disqualified? You may answer for any variety of point fighting rules you like as long as it sounds really lame compared to the usual bloodsport.

Referees cannot be influenced or mimicked by magic.

Let's see. Karate Point-Fighting doesn't permit thrown weapons, fireballs, axes, grenades, grabbing the other person and pulling off their arms, etc. It also doesn't allow 'low' attacks.

Each match is going to take a while, since it now comes down to faking the other person into standing in a 'High' impenetrable defense, then throwing them.

*stops punching, tries throw*

*stops blocking, moves back*

It's about as exciting as watching chi sao. :(
