Hmmm. I thought Emerald Dawn would be in the lead.

I didn't chose "Emerald Dawn" for mostly these three reasons:
-- The drunk driving incident and characterization of Hal that he was an underachiever of some kind. I liked the characterization in "Secret Origins" more.
-- The art in "Secret Origins" is just a ton better.
-- The retconned in villain Legion isn't as interesting to me as the retconned in villain Atrocitus. (Legion never showed up again, if that's any indicator)

I might be wrong, but those who prefer Emerald Dawn probably like another GL than Hal. Again, I might be off base here.

GREEN LANTERN 9 (November-December 1961)--2nd story, "Green Lantern's Brother Act" by John Broome, Gil Kane and Joe Giella--introduces Hal's brothers, Jack and Jim, as well as Sue Williams who will marry Jim and give birth to their children (Howie, Jane and Arthur).

I voted Emerald Dawn and Emerald Dawn II.

I think there's a lot to love about both stories, but Secret Origins has better art while Emerald Dawn II, despite having to follow up on the bone-headed decision to make Hal a drunk driver, had the better story, particularly in regards to Hal and Sinestro's relationship.

Yes, for sure art is subjective. Personally, I thought Bright was B-level at best and I kinda hated that he was attached to GL for so long across multiple series.(I wasn't a fan of Staton either, tbh)

Bright was never a favorite of mine, unlike Reis, however, there are two works of him that, for me, place him as an A-lister: Iron Man and Green Lantern. IMHO, he was really firing on all cylinders on those books. However, for me, the Emerald Dawn story works better (despite it's flaws, particularly Hal's initial characterization).

    Peace
