    Shiva has been drifting a bit from the character’s original premise as far back as the Simone BoP years. I like the original take better but have been resigned to the idea that she’s drifted from that. Having her as a superheroish sort who Batman sends on missions is a step too far for me though - that’s a completely different character.

    Pretty much. As conceived by Denny O’Neil she was an amoral killer who sought only to test her skills by seeking out, if necessary training, and then killing worthy opponents. She was kind of a psychopath frankly but an interesting one.

    I think that's been pretty consistent up until recently, give or take the level of how much she cares about people depending on the comic.
