Ah, interesting! There's quite a lot of older X-Men stuff I haven't read yet. I know it's very silly, but the old stuff with Hank seems kind of tainted with how he's acting now. He was heroic then but now he's an amoral *******.

Yeah, I agree Immonen did a very good cat Hank, and yes I thought 'horse' when I saw that image of Hank I posted.

(BTW, are my images posting okay? They look weird in preview for me. It's been a while since I posted in a forum like this and my formatting was never very good)

Maybe this will help start the rehabilitation of Beast somewhat?

Urghh! It's shameful that Hank doesn't have at least as many pages as the Scott topic on this forum. Guess I'll have to do it.
This is from his miniseries that was more about Karma then him but oh well. I thought his 'deer in the headlights' look at the left was funny.

And then, that time Dark beast captured Hank and walled him up. When read this I was like "What the hell? You don't wall someone up alive unless you're pure evil...oh". Anyway, I thought Hank was strangely calm here. Personally, I'd be raging like a maniac: "I'm going to get out of here, and when I do, I'll dig your heart out with my own nails!!!"

Now this one, I just wanted to give him a hug afterward. Uatu spends the whole issue telling Hank how much he sucks. Sure you've made some bad calls, but just ask for some help and you can fix things. But we're left with the same anguished expression he had on the first page.

Wow! That looks interesting. But whenever a writer tries to write him good again, he just snaps right back to ******* as soon as that writer leaves. I'm convinced the higher ups at Marvel really hate Hank. He needs to be given a break for awhile and later have an issue where he faces his neuroses. But I guess that wouldn't sound very exiting.

I’ll read the hell out of this, but I think it’s more likely that Beast drags Wondy down to the gutter than vice versa.

Me too . It doesn't help that the poor guy is utterly alone. No girlfriend, no family(when was the last time he spoke to his parents?), no friends(everyone hates him now). Writers like Percy and Bendis seem determined to pile as much abuse on him as possible.

Here's one in the aftermath of Onslaught where Franklin Richards' little friends were captured by bigoted hayseeds and Hank lets them tie him up and beat him if they'd let the kids go. I haven't seen this self-sacrificing Hank in years:

Here's one where Mister Sinister had captured Hank and the other X-Men and put them in a cage(well, more like jail bars, but the effect is similar). I don't think I'd be able to forgive someone if they put me in a cage. And now their supposed to play nice with him in Krakoa? Yeah, yeah, realpolitik and all that, but still I'd like Hank to say "You put me and my friends in a cage *******!". Also, I never was very fond of his eyes being pupil-less too:

Come to think of it, Hank, especially pre-2000, spent a lot of time being tied-up or otherwise restrained. He even complains about it:

Awesome! I so miss this playful Hank!

Hey, as long as we're in a slightly pervy direction, why not a panel out of context?
Hank looks surprised and suddenly Hellcat is trapped in a sticky, white fluid:

ROFL! That is...incredible. Mine aren't as good:

So, Hank, you smelled Colossus? Why would you need to do that?

    And this...I have no words:

Yep, from Tom Thumb in his little self-propelled flying unit.
