Default Post an image of the idealized Bat-family of your youth

Inspired by Buried Allen's post about the Justice League over on the DC Comics board (which you can check out here).

Post an image that represents your idealized version of the Batman family from when you first started reading comics and/or got into the Batman franchise in any way.

    Here's mine:

I’ll use the first time period I managed to get ahold of TPBs regularly (since the comic shop was long closed in my town then), with the ones at my library right around the time No Man’s Land was being collected:

Like action, adventure, rogues, and outlaws? Like anti-heroes, femme fatales, mysteries and thrillers?

I wrote a book with them. Outlaw’s Shadow: A Sherwood Noir. Robin Hood’s evil counterpart, Guy of Gisbourne, is the main character. Feel free to give it a look: https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asi...E2PKBNJFH76GQP

Currently in my Youth so the only Bat family I've ever known is the current one which really is too big.

Idealised version of the bat family would be batman, Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood, Signal, Batgirl, batwing and Alfred.

The RR's and GG's don't really have a purpose imo.

Couldn't find a picture to match.

I'll take "my youth" as the point I got into reading Batman. They used to pose a lot less "back in my day". Lol.

It was Batman, Alfred, Gordon and sometimes Robin (Tim). Very occasionally Oracle (Babs), Nightwing (Dick in the blue & yellow) and Huntress. Robin and Azrael had their own books (followed by Nightwing).

I preferred those days when the Bat-family was small and believable. As much as I like a lot of the characters that came after (and I still miss Onyx and Orpheus, so would be happy to see them again), I find the sheer number of kids Batman endorses to really breaks my immersion.

Theorising that it could travel within its own timeline, DC stepped into the Crisis accelerator and vanished. DC awoke to find itself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not its own, and driven by editorial to change history *for the better* *to be more cohesive* *Silver Age nostalgia* *for the sake of it*. And so DC finds itself leaping from Crisis to Crisis, striving to put right what once went wrong, and hoping each time that the next leap will be to a perfect DC Universe…

Don't know how many people remember this but it's one of my favorite Bat Family stories:

(Not pictured but still part of the story are Oracle and Catwoman)

    Then there is:

    And of course:

This is the Bat-Fam I grew up with, not too bloated and every member was distinct and had a place in Gotham and Bludhaven respectively.

Not only that but their solo titles were all bangers: Batman, Tec, Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Birds of Prey

    The Batfamily of my youth

The Batfamily when I got into comics:

    My ideal Batfamiy:

Just add Bruce to this picture and you've pretty much got all the ones that I need. And honestly, Bruce is only there because most of them are his kids.

I think this picture is perfect without Bruce.
