Why's that? It solves the real world war origin problem. Was first mentioned in History of the Marvel Universe, so you can credit Mark Waid for it.

It is. Warbird and Threadneedle, two new characters introduced in The Marvels, were mentioned in History of the Marvel Universe. Everything else on that page of upcoming events has come to pass in the 616 universe (for example, Outlawed, Empyre, King in Black) except for the wedding of Tony Stark and Emma Frost (which makes me wonder if Hellcat was a substitution because of Marauders?).

Also, if it wasn't in continuity, why use a newbie character like Aero?

Nah, you can credit me with it. I came up with the idea back when I was writing IRON MAN and AVENGERS, and we were talking about doing it as a pocket crossover between IRON MAN, MARVEL UNIVERSE, CAPTAIN AMERICA: SENTINEL OF LIBERTY and maybe a Spider-book, to involve Flash Thompson.

It would have been very different had we done it back then, and it's going to get pretty weird...

...but I'm the guy who first suggested it to Tom Brevoort, many years ago, and because THE MARVELS was in the works, Mark added it to HISTORY OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE.

    And yeah, it's in-continuity.

    I will tell, you bet.

In 20 pages an issue, as drawn very nicely by Yildiray Cinar, colored by GuruFX and lettered by Simon Bowland.

I picked up issue 8 yesterday. I'd imagine seeing trades would be a fairly safe bet, though.

We had a lot of snow so I wasn't able to travel much yesterday and I use a pull list at the LCS. I'll try and get it today since the roads are in much better shape.

I always thought Latverian plowing was top-notch.

When in doubt, blame Reed Richards. I'm sure he's behind it.

Latveria is quite lovely this time of year, isn't it?

1,000% agree. Sliding timescale is idiotic and only done for IP licensing.

This gets me thinking about the problem of aging superheroes linked to real time events as part of Marvels 1960’s policy of “world outside your window”.

There was a chance in 2015, where Marvel elegantly destroyed the 7th iteration of the Marvel Universe, in total, when Marvel could have swept away that whole policy. You see, they killed everybody in the MU, except the few that escaped death in the two life rafts in that story of Secret Wars. What Marvel could have done was transition the 7th iteration heroes into the 8th iteration universe having new back-stories of their origins. And all the dead heros reanimated by Reed Richards, were given 2015 origins.

It also results in weirdnesses like Dragoness being 80 or so. She looks about 30 or so....

Yeah, Dragoness's mother was exposed to the Hiroshima blast while pregnant with Tamara. That sets a hard date for the year she was born.
