What I don’t get though is, why did this very telepathic message drive them into crazy mutant worship? Telepaths have been a known concept for years and it’s not like this is the first time there’s been a telepathic message done. That really needs to be explained because it still makes no sense.

Looneys gonna loon. All Charles did was speak simply and clearly. Some fundies (or perhaps mainly those conditioned by them) made it into a thing about god. That’s on them and on human society’s need to blame god/s for everything they don’t understand.
