The data page clearly said they existed before Krakoa and after Krakoa there numbers grew because they think mutants are divine
Bishop directly says Xavier's broadcast turned them insane.

I mean, they got to do something with the corpses besides the Boneyard. Might as well make some cash on the side.

That's how you want to interpret it but based on all information it's clear that after the broadcast the cult just got new members boom.

It was a nice try though

    Humans worship vampires too.

Humans who live in a cult and are fantatical towards wanting to be mutants are

    1. Like that douchebag who ran the team with Bouncing Betty
    2. One step away from the U-Men

Look, I just want to know if a mutant leftover corpse cannery could be an actual profitable enterprise for the Krakoan government. This is a big opportunity for mutantkind being slept on!

The kid Cable series covered this. Stryfe was stirring them up all along and encouraging the whole cult stuff. He wanted to use them to gather mutant children so he could farm DNA. The whole cult was engineered by Stryfe, and he's a telepath with no technorganic material putting restrictions on his abilities.

    Meh.
Cable proclaimed messages to the world and connected everyone's mind
Nate grey proclaimed himself God to every one in the works and bolished religion
Silver surfer connected everyone's minds and created temporary world peace
Jean used the minds of every one on earth to fight nate grey
Xavier used the minds of every one on earth to fight the znoxx
Odin erased the memory of everyone on earth
Emma frost projected a message of cyclops to every one on earth
Emma frost put mental blocks in the minds of everyone on earth
Wanda put everyone on earth in an alternate reality with new memories
Shadow king made every one on earth evil
Red onslaught made everyone on earth evil
False Xavier personality of Legion made everyone on earth evil
Shadow king drained psychic energy from every one on earth
Shadow king took control of every one on earth
Xenmu took control of every one on earth
Xenmu used every mind on earth as ammo to crush hulks mind
Psylocke, Xavier, Jean, and moondragon used every mind on earth to fight magus
Oh yeah, magus used telepathy to put every one on earth to sleep
The goddess us took control of earth and removed evil from everyone's mind
Pretty sure mephisto erased Spiderman identity from everyone, and Legion erased his identity from everyone, and Phoenix and doctor strange and galactus and everyone have all tampered with people on earth's minds

With the way the minds of every one on earth get messed with every Tuesday, it's going to be hard to pin any blame on Xavier. So yesterday when Thanos crushed the minds of everyone, it didn't hurt them, but Xavier sent out a broadcast message this morning and now people are insane.

Dude, I'm just quoting what Bishop said word for word.

See, this is a legitimate explanation, and what I wanted to hear. Thank you.
