This'll take Aloy to LA. The base game of course had San Francisco as a major setting and used in a lot of the marketing.

Seems the main spotlight of the DLC is the chance to fight a Horus. Since it's so massive it's probably a multi-level fight or will require a lot of the Sunwing (Which is also shown a lot in this expansion although it's a late-game addition in the base).

This is one of those franchises that feels like it would be far more successful if it had another protagonist. I hate to say it but if Varl was the protagonist this franchise would have been so much better.

Aloy just isn't very likeable.

The franchise would be more successful if it chose better releases dates. Both games were massively overshadowed by other open world games (Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring)

Exactly.

Interestingly, it seems people are just catching up on it at the end of the year.

Sony really messed up the release dates of the Horizon games.

One thing that didn't sit well with me on Horizon West is that a lot of the story refers to pretty much *everything* from the first game.

HEPASTUES for example plays a fairly large role in the sequel, but a lot of it's background is featured in the FROZEN WILDS DLC from the first game.

Likewise, those who read the Titan comics or do one of the major side quests in HFW will have no idea who Talanah is if they skipped over the Hunter's lodge quests from the first one.


...and yeah, Aloy does come occasionally come across as a bit overly sarcastic/snarky at times that can get on people's nerves.

Burning Shores is out next week. The preview shows Aloy with one of the Far Zenith weapons confronting the Horus, explaining at least partly how that boss fight will go.


Also once again, it's being released close to a Zelda game....

Reviews are in, seems to be a pretty good expansion. I've just started it myself, pretty much literally drops you in next to Mann's Chinese theater.


Sam Witwer appears to be the villain, and there's a new companion. Lance of course appears as Sylens, his last performance as the character unless he already recorded dialogue for III.

Yeah the Sylens dialogue was poignant, have to wonder if they'll recast him(jarring if they do given how unique Lance's voice is) or if they'll have him die in between games

Witwer kind of plays an evil Tony Stark type, basically he was running a side project when the rest of Far Zenith was facing Aloy in the base game and survived. Somewhat like Ted Faro but with less self-deification, although still self-absorbed.

He also has a Dinosaur theme park based on a "holodrama" which seems a bit like a self-parody of Horizon.

David Keith will be playing Lance's role in Destiny, wonder if he would do the same for Sylens in HZD.

Although they would probably have to change the likeness, Sylens is clearly based on Reddick's real face. Or have him obscured somehow, Sylens often communicates via hologram.
