I'm really loving DH's manga omnibus line. Not only are they a lot of value for your buck, not only are the original volumes they collect frequently out-of-print, but DH had these crazy tendency a decade ago to make their manga paperbacks really, really, small. I have their old Astro Boy vol. 3, and it's almost unreadable!

I've been very happy with every hardcover I've gotten from DH, whether it's an enormous Hellboy Library Edition or a slim hc like Usagi Yojimbo: Yokai. They're always really handsome things.

Dark Horse could easily have Marvel and DC beat when it comes to hardcovers. The Library Editions are probably the most well-constructed books available.

I wish they'd branch out though and start releasing Marvel/DC/Image-style oversized hardcovers. Books like Veil, Black Beetle and Mind MGMT would be fantastic, but it seems that they're just getting standard hardcovers and that's it.

Nothing by love for dark horse hardcovers. And not all of mine are comics. I have a few of their art books as well. Beautiful.

Their EC reprints, which continue the numbering from the previous printer, are approximately half an inch shorter. Drives me crazy.

Crazy love for their Hellboy and Fear Agent hardcovers. WHen does the Buffy season 9 get the giant sized hardcover treatment?

Just finished Fear Agent LE volume 2. Damn, that's a great story. I read the first TPB a while back and thought it was fun, but I never expected it to grow like it did. The last arc is stunning.

I had nothing but love for dark horse's hardcovers... That is until yesterday when my copy of fear agent vol. 1 arrived and upon opening it the back eight pages fell right out. Also the front pages were stuck together and when I pulled them apart it took some of the ink off. It's okay though, a replacement should arrive today (say what you will about amazon's lousy shipping and handling, they have a great return policy).

That sucks about the Fear Agent vol 1. Gotta think that's a real rarity as all the Darkhorse books I have are fantastic. I read a chunk of Colossal Conan last night - what an amazing book! Almost seems like you're presented with a new Frazetta painting every couple of pages. I still can't get over how comically huge the book is though...

That's very weird, mine is perfectly fine. It's actually one of my favorite hc's and probably the one with the best price/quality/quantity ratio. I mean the paper is very thick, but not too thick. There are a ton of extra's and sketches. It's very tall. It has 500+ pages and that for a $50 retail price, it's pretty grear.

There's always going to be faulty examples of any mass-produced item of course. Nothing is ever 100% perfect and a few unlucky individuals are going to end up getting a dud. I'm sure the replacement copy will be fine...
