Storm makes a choice for her people and another for herself. Magneto makes a new home and an unlikely friend. Cable makes a potential enemy out of an unexpected guest. Sunspot makes Vulcan's list. Also, two teams are formed. One of them is X-Men Red. And the other is...?

I wouldn't really say the X-men are working for QC.

They're definitely reigned in by them, but I don't think their mission statement and actions are done with the QC in mind.

Nor does the QC really do things with the X-Men foremost in mind. Teraforming Mars was a perfect example of this. The QC had bigger concerns in mind than how the X- Men would be viewed by a bunch of fashion critics. Magneto went and had face to face talks with those concerns about Mars.

The Phoenix Echo warns them that another threat is approaching the planet and it can only save Krakoa by transporting the island off planet. This creates two camps. One camp thinks that it is not ready to abandon the planet on the say so of a space bird while other completely embrace the bird's lore and believe that the bird is the saviour of mutants and the island will be safe in its claws on the way to a new planet. These two camps clash while the bird hovers in the background.
Krakoa states that a threat is coming and to combat it it will need the life force of all the X men temporarily and need to feed on them while they are kept safe in statis and will be reawakened once the threat is conquered. Cue two camps forming on whether it is advisable to entrust the entire mutant species to Krakoa and war breaks out on Krakoa as the island that walks rises to combat the threat.
Somehow pod people with the memories of the X men are appearing all over the island and the quite council decide that they are phalanx copies like the recent phalanx wolverine and opt to destroy them while others feel that they are clones who should not be put down like that. Cue two camps forming one defending them and one opposition camp trying to destroy them and they clash while warlock hovers above them having shape shifted to gigantic size.
The Brood are on the verge of extinction due to a mysterious malady that is fast making the species extinct and the only way for them to survive is to implant eggs in the mutant spare pods so they can evolve into something that can resist the malady. Cue some who are not ready for the resources of Krakoa being used in such a manner while some who are not ready for a whole species to become extinct and they clash over the issue while the Brood Queen hovers over the two opposing sides.
Kitty comes back through time and warns them that Selene and Magick are going to clash with the X men caught between that leads to Krakoa burning in the Inferno that is caused by their conflict and they should kill both of them to save Krakoa and prevent the calamity but the new mutants are not ready for the drastic action and the summers and greys are also not going to have Madelyn be sacrificed once again due to the manipulations of external forces. Cue Summer/grey/new mutants vs everyone else with Asmodel hovering over them.
Loki returns but this time instead of offering gifts he has come as king of frost giants to beg them to give him ice man as he is needed to transform into Ymir and give birth to a new race of frost giants as they have been completely wiped out in a recent war and need to be reborn through Ymir. He would be returned after the rebirthing is accomplished. Cue two camps forming on whether Loki can be trusted to do right by Bobby and not just getting him killed to revive Ymir and they clash in the realm of the frost giants while a ensorcelled Ice Man who is turning into Ymir hovers over them.
I can go on creating these absurd scenarios but I think that they would go on becoming more nonsensical.
