Every day is a gift, not a given right.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

People can vote for it nor not. I don't care and I have no plans to change it. There have been entries before that didn't follow the rules. And the reasoning is very arbitrary and I don't buy it. You can pick out any famous work of art and make the same argument.
And I wouldn't say that X-Men #136 is an homage to the Pieta since Cyclops is in a standing position, not seated.

This is going to be a challenge. The cover I might have used has been taken, so now i will have to hunt for another.

Maybe you could google an artist you like (i.e. Da Vinci, Picasso, O'Keefe, etc.) and then "comic book cover" and see what comes up. That's how I went about it. I knew there were plenty of fine art homages out there, but had nothing particular in mind. It may take a few artists, though, as my first choice didn't bring up any.
Several of the works of art that have already been used have in fact been used as the basis for multiple comic book covers, and there's no restriction against posting a different one that is based on the same art as one that's already been posted. So post one if you wish, and voters can compare how different comic-book artists treated the same homage!
NOT AN ENTRY … but worth sharing, I think.
My first reaction was, “Yikes”.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:
Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
It did eventually get me to this one though, so I do thank you for the suggestion.
