    Congrats to Nschornhorst.
And thank you Tami, Ray and Capt for making me a runner up.

Here is the story of that Donald Duck cover. It was not origianlly a comic cover.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Congratulations to Nschornhorst for a cover which shows Donald in a completely new light. Wait, that's not a Barks or a Rosa cover, is it? Can they do that? Can we get a judge's call on this? All kidding aside, great job.

And now, the peak of the week and what the captain has learned from this contest. You'll have to forgive me. It's possible the river of my tears will short out my key...

...board. Anyway, as I was saying, swiping and homaging is a very common practice in comic books. Comic creators go to great lengths to find ideas and often, those ideas are very similar to someone else's. In cases like we saw this week, the referencing is obvious and not being tried to slip under the attention of readers. It's "Hey Look! We steal from the best!!". And there is always the chance that a connection to other forms of art will inspire readers to find enjoyment outside their comfort zones. And I did say "chance".

Grateful thanks go to babyblob for their kind vote. My limited oeuvre is one I rely on often here and I am grateful to those who supported me enough to allow me to dip my toe into the black and white explosion of the eighties. The captain has realized he is not the next Gaiman, Moore, or Morrison. But damn, he does love making his funny book stories.
