If Peter wanted a successor, he wouldn’t be such a loner in the first place. He hopes his children will be as normal and safe as possible.

    Are....are you serious?
When he had Annie he didn't quit he was still Spider-Man and did what he did before. He quit being Spider-Man after he lost his leg in MC2 and even then still suited up when he could and another example was in Dark Ages. He had a Mayday and WAS STILL SPIDER-MAN

Oh yeah, the “leg” thing! He clearly plans on letting that happen to his daughters.

    Erm, no.

Read "Mr and Mrs Spider-Man", Peter was still active when Mayday was an infant. He only stopped because of his injury.

Peter is defined by “with great power there must also come great responsibility.”

If his children have great power, of course he would teach them the same. Not sure you why think that would even be a question.

Also, “Peter raising a legacy character” is clearly meant as a meta comment on what story possibilities May’s death would have opened up. Stories need conflict. So Peter feeling conflicted over his children following in his footsteps (as he was in Spider-Girl and RYV) would indeed open up storytelling opportunities.

And yet working together with others is apparently a taboo for readers.

Then why are they so many Spider-Man team up books. Spider-Man can essentially work with any hero or civilian

    So much THIS^^^

Pete now has a NEW responsibility.... to teach his children how to be responsible using their powers. He wants May to be safe in MC2, but he knows that she's a meta with powers most people have trouble imagining.

And that, since this is the Marvel Universe, one mistake or one misjudged/misinterpreted action is all it takes to get the public, the media, and the authorities all baying for a prospective superhero's blood.

I can agree with most of what you said there, but I don't see the meta element in this anymore than I see the meta element in any possible future storyline.

Killing Aunt May off wouln't open the possibility for him to have children. Those are two completely separate subjects and Peter having kids is really not something likely to happen whether they leave May alive or dead, at least, not in the present. That's a situation for possible future stories, where they can easily skip five or ten years ahead.

When did he ever say that?

That explains why he's been a member of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, New Warriors (sort of), worked with Silver Sable, taught a group of X-men, and probabaly was in a few other groups I'm forgetting.

I'd throw in the Outlaws, which was a motley crew of Spider-villains that reformed themselves. Spidey actually led them, if I'm remembering right.
