She died of natural causes VS a bullet, so i would say that was a better death than what would have gone down in 616.

She was Mayday's spirit adviser and seemed pretty fine with it.

DeFalco must've written that during an acid trip to come up with that story lol.

As said, she got to be Mayday's spiritual adviser when she was body-jacked by Arana and had her youth restored, only reverting to her older form after she helped everyone defeat Osborn to verify it was her.

No one will ever propose anyone they actually care about up for the chopping block.

Characters you enjoy can be found everywhere. If one dies in one universe, they can be found in another.

I love a married Peter and MJ, and was quite handsomely rewarded post-OMD.

I've read the works of Mohiro Kitoh. This is just not true.

Enh... in MC2 it just made sense. She's a normal person... and elderly. People die of old age.

The live action version in the recent movie got a hilarious reception... because the actress is in her 50s IIRC... but looks too young... lol. Well, MC2 is something like 18 years down the road from there. If May is in her 50s when Pete leaves high school, then she'd be in her 70s when Mayhem comes to the Parker household.

But... Aunt May's age is never specified in the comics, and she's drawn to look like she's in her 80s sometimes... adding 18 years to THAT? yeah....

My favorite character in Attack on Titan is Grisha Yeagger, and he's better off dead.

That's not what they meant lol.

Gen Urobuchi also tends to kill off characters, as does Yoko Taro, though I dunno if they kill their favorites.

If I had things like talent, patience or interest to be a writer I'd probably torture my favorites on a whim too, maybe even flip a coin to decide if they live or die lol.

That's an odd complaint to make, while MCU aunt May is young by aunt May's standards, she's not actually young, plenty of people out there don't look their age.

Hell, someone "looking their age" happens less often than you'd think too, it's even normal in some places lol.

Aunt May dying very much is an established ongoing part of the medium lore now too, having had a movie and a video game where she passes away. New generations are growing up with their own take on "The Gift", it's only a matter of time before they'll want that reflected in the comics.

Doesn't matter what they meant. That would be my answer to anyone who wouldn't wish death on a character they loved. If you don't like it if 616 does away with May, just go to another variant if one's available. Plenty of cartoons with her in them for instance.

I think the main reason this question keeps getting brought up is always going too be OMD. A lot of people didn’t like that. Especially since the trade seems like it has led too anything worthwhile. Aunt May herself also doesn’t really add much nowadays. It’d be one thing if they came up with something too make the aunt May character grow but she’s kind of stagnant.
