I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

I don’t know if this one qualifies… but I like it and I don’t want to search more.

So "Mardi Gras" and The Hunchback of Notre Dame are both French.

I don't know about the Disney cartoon but in the novel, the Quasimodo unwittingly becomes part of the Feast of Fools and is crowned King Fool

Definitely the case in the Disney cartoon as well, while set to the delightful "Topsy Turvy" by the newest EGOT winner Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. I sometimes try to sing Paul Kandel's part as Clopin Trouillefou, but his tenor is tough to imitate!

I've yet to see the cartoon. One of my favorite movies of the classic MGM era of the 1930's and 1940s is the Hunchback of Notre Dame with Charles Laughton in the title role.

With the appropriate accessories, any man can look like a woman…

Anyway, you are free to think that a person in a dress with visible breasts can be a man…

I believe the man in the gray suit is a ventriloquist, and the "queen" is his mannequin-sized dummy. He really shouldn't have to use his hand to keep us from seeing his lips moving, but he's probably still working on this whole "throwing your voice" thing. I suspect that the masked "prince" is in fact another one of his dummies, which explains the warning that he is issuing to Emily.
