"My name is Wally West. I'm the fastest man alive!"
I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.
Yeah. I seem to recall reading back then that the Editorial order was to have Kyle cut all ties to Earth (and his supporting cast) in preparation for what would later be Rebirth. Hence why just a few issues later, Major Force would kill off Kyle's mother (which was hastily rewritten due to poor reception).
I found it odd with the chance of rebooting but keeping the GL histories intact they didn’t undo Alexandra’s death.
Oh and Connor Hawke was restored.

Kyle Rayner's version Midnight Album cover and its tracks.
Why would they? Alex DeWitt by herself is an unimportant character in DC's eyes. Her only relevance lay in her relationship with Kyle, and how her death affected him as a young, novice super-hero. Her creator, Ron Marz, actually admitted that she was created specifically to die so as to move Kyle's story forward. I mean, yeah, literally the example that "Women in Refrigerators is named after. But as far as DC's concerned, there is no pressing reason why she needs to ever be brought back from the dead. She's just not that important.
Season's Greetings!
It's a bit of an old discussion, but Jade cheating on Kyle seems to have been done out of utility to me more than anything. It seemed to serve just to get Kyle from point A to point B, which was to have him single before Geoff Johns took over Green Lantern. Some things were done just to get some pieces in place that Johns or Tomasi wanted before they brought back Hal Jordan and the Corps, like the resurrection of Kilowog, Oa being brought back, and so on. It seems to me that they also wanted the Green Lanterns single, as John's girlfriend at the time, Merayn, also left him. I guess they didn't feel like dealing with baggage, threads, characters or status quos from other people's stories.
I think Jade was a more interesting girlfriend to read about with Kyle than Soranik Natu. But I believe the pre-Rebirth era was considerably better for Kyle in general than the post-Rebirth era.
The Alley Rat has been one serious, serial "sleeper" in getting ahead.
Sleeps with the next best thing to Wonder Woman herself.
Sleeps with the daughter of the first Green Lantern.
Sleeps with the daughter of Sinestro.
Sleeps with the classic lady love of Hal Jordan.
Hasn't he figured out that the lady's credit is not sexually transmitted?
What Kyle Rayner been up to lately??
I fell off comics a couple years back. Around the time Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern corps ended. Soranik went full heel and Kyle was basically just one of the guys.
Is he still a regular in GL. Have they made him some special GL? Or is he chilling in limbo?
