-- Broadcast News (such an underappreciated role. When Albert Brooks says, "while being a very nice guy, I think he's the Devil." You believe it - you can see how he's not wrong because Hurt played the role exactly as that to make that line work)

Hurt had a string of impressive movie roles throughout the 1980s that corresponded with my intense interest in film--EYEWITNESS, ALTERED STATES, BODY HEAT, THE BIG CHILL, GORKY PARK, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD, BROADCAST NEWS, THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST. I thought of him as the greatest actor of the age.
