She's no doubt finished in this franchise (if this franchise continues beyond this sequel - seems like DC is going to be shaken up quite a bit), but they aren't going to completely cut her already reduced role. While Depp has a large fanbase, there still would be sizable controversy if they completely cut her at this point. Johnny was also found liable for defamation and he's still an alleged abuser - her allegations aren't suddenly false as that was not what this trial was ever about to begin with.
Many still believe Amber and see this mockery of a trial for what it was - misogyny, abuse of power, media influence, and bad lawyers.

I thought Heard was a fine Mera but I'm perfectly fine with recasting.
Hope they find a good replacement for Mera and they probaby will since it's not like the bar is set that high.
I haven't really followed the trial and have no problem with Amber continuing in the role. Honestly, I don't think either Depp or Heard are blameless for this mess. But a recasting would be better than losing the character. I think Mera is one of the most interesting aspects of Aquaman lore. As for Dolphin -- no! She was basically underwater eye candy.
Something they made up to get around the "we dont want the drama your surrounded with right now"
They did a chem test and had no issues with her. The film made a billion dollars and had no issues with her. She was highly rated with test audiences and they had no issues with her.
Momoa and Heard do lack onscreen chemistry, but not significantly more-so than most romantic pairings in these superhero movies. Heard was not a selling point for the film’s success.
