Default Has There Ever Been A Dark Knight Returns/Old Man Logan Story For A Villain?

A "one last job" type story where a supervillain comes out of retirement for one last time.

This trope has been done quite a bit with Superheroes

    Dark Knight Returns
    Spiderman Reign
    Justice League The Last Ride
    Old Man Logan
    Wonder Woman Dead Earth
    Superman At Earth's End

But has this story ever been told with a supervillain as the protagonist?

Depends on if one sees Frank Castle as a villain or not.

    If so?

    The Punisher "The End..." comic?

It's quite a bit like that.

Whether you see the Punisher's methods as moral, he's been consistently been portrayed as an anti-hero at worst since the original Grant/Zeck miniseries. Although Ennis' take is a less romanticized take on a vigilante than usual.

Only a minor character, but Moloch the Mystic might be in with a shout.

Rogues, the current DC Black Label book, is this type of story for Captain Cold and his cohorts.

That's the one I thought of, though it may not necessarily count as rather than a coming out of retirement for one last heist it's more of a turn towards heroism.

Great call, although the theoretical counter-argument is always if Maestro is just Hulk or Banner, therefore it's a hero in a bleak future pushed to the edge, and not a standard villain getting a dark future.

But at this point, I'm remembering this was a thing:

I was going to post the same. Doom 2099 as written by John Francis Moore and then later Warren Ellis represented a better option to rule in the future of 2099 where the corrupt megacorps like Alchemex and Pixel had taken over.
