Is it because the T-Rex (its predator) is cunning enough to secretly stalk and ambush the Triceratops?

Humans have guns yet still wear Camo when they hunt each year. Them deer are crafty Sons on Bitches!
Maybe the T Rex is just the Dino version of a Deer?

Horns (or claws, or teeth) provide defense in a fight, but all combatants in fights get hurt. The very best defense is always not to get attacked in the first place.

Triceratops was one of nature's living tanks. Modern-day tanks are very heavily weaponed (for attack and for defense), but they also rely on camouflage.
By the way, oh wise(?) one, what sort of "camouflage" are you talking about? What was the coloration of the normal triceratops?
Anything that is shown about how exactly they appeared is based on fossils and guesswork. After all, actual photographic evidence from the late Mesozoic Era is non-existent at best.
They were bright pink. Hey, no one said that it was particularly good camouflage...
We don't know they were camouflaged. We have no idea what color their skin was.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
It’s almost always interesting in nature to be camouflaged: if you are a prey, the reason is a obvious, if you are a predator, you may need to pounce your prey… Tigers are camouflaged…
During breeding season, on the other hand, you need to attract attention…
Edit: during shooting season, if you are human, it’s not a good idea to be camouflaged too…

“Strength is the lot of but a few privileged men; but austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time.” Goethe
