Default Was Nightcrawler supposed to be furry?

    I'll explain what I mean:

I'm rereading Claremont's run on X Men. Currently I'm on issue 109, and there's a point where Colossus says that Nightcrawler looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars. Kind of weird considering that the two share no resemblance whatsoever, but I assumed it was just a pretty lame joke from the humorless Colossus.

But then a few pages later when Nightcrawler is talking to Cyclops, he says "I've only been blue and furry since I was born?" Then it struck me, was Nightcrawler supposed to have hair all over his body and it just never caught on?

Back before the advent of digital coloring, dark blue was used to indicate hair.

No comic book artist I've ever seen drawn Nightcrawler has ever depicted him as being covered in hair like the Beast or the wolfman.

He's supposed to be demonic and not animalistic, especially because of his father Azazel and mother Mystique; I don't think he's furry and the Fuzzy Elf nickname I think is supposed to be a term of endearment.

He’s covered head to tail in a soft felt-like fuzz.

OH you had me laughing right here

to answer the above question, I believe Kurt isn't "furry" but has like very fine, near hairless, microfiber-like layer of "fuzzy" hair all over his body. I do think over time and depending on the artist, Kurt may or may not be covered in "hair".

I guess it never caught on and thank gosh because then I can't mentally undress him. Seriously though when Kurt is dropped into the water and says he hates being wet when he's been in hot tobs , regular tubs and showers... *shrugs*

    And quite happily.

Love those panels but I just cant think of him being furry too long, I rather think of it as fuzz - hence "Fuzzy Elf".

There’s a difference between being dumped in cold lake/pond/sea water and sharing a hot bath with a friend.

Tbh I don't really understand why fans hold onto the whole "fur" thing so much. Just have him be a blue skinned elf like the movies. I mean his mother literally has blue skin so it's not a stretch. Idk I get it's canon but it's not a deal breaker or even sacrilege against his character.
