It seems especially odd to me that people worry about the age of a Superman actor. Like what, are people thinking that Old Man Kent would be a weak old man who can't keep up? Are they worried about the actor not being able to maintain the physicality? Because I'm struggling to see why anyone would think either thing; Clark's often written as becoming *more* powerful as he ages, and plenty of current day superhero actors are over 40 and they look fine. Hollywood pays for diet specialists and personal trainers; that 50 year old superhero actor is probably in better shape than any of us (and I'm in pretty damn good shape for the shape I'm in!). Not to mention makeup, good lighting, a little cgi glow-up....

If it's an origin story that's one thing. But otherwise? Cast whoever is the best actor and looks the part.

And I wouldn't even worry about "actor longevity" at all. Not with DC. Marvel, yeah that's a consideration because you're looking at potentially a decade of movies. But DC barely manages to get one film off the ground, struggle even more to make that one film successful and sequel-worthy, and the last thing they should be thinking is "can this actor still play the role in 2032?"

They don’t actually care about Cavill’s age, after all they’re recruiting Keaton on board as the shared universe Bat, that’s just a cover story for the real problem of him demanding too much money and control for their taste. Thought that was obvious.

Unless they want yet another rebooted origin story, which means...

Exactly. I'm 42, and I can use Boris Continuum's "Beauty Studio" to take about 20 years off of me on video, so it's not like it's any problem at all for a small budget, let alone a major studio (origin story or not). And I still want to make that Golden Age fan film one of these years, lol

Oh, certainly. I just think it's good for fans to not get caught in that trap in general, and for WB to stop using it as an excuse (in this case or others).

Again, Ryan Reynolds is 45. He was 37 when the first Deadpool movie came out. And I don't hear of too many people saying Ryan's too old for the part. WB needs to worry about making a franchise work at all before they worry about "actor longevity," lol.

If it's an origin story, a VERY mild amount of visual effect can make an actor lose 15-20 years. Heck, I own those effects, myself.
To be fair with Ryan and Deadpool, thanks to the mask and costume, you could probably film an entire Deadpool movie without Reynolds ever coming to set, and just have him dub his voice in during post production and no one would ever have to know. Clearly you kind of can't get away with that same thing for Superman as he always shows his face. Even with Keaton and Batman all he has to do is walk and talk in costume and have someone with a close enough jawline to all stunt and fight scenes.
Maybe Cavill should pitch a Clark Kent Nightwing in Kandor movie. I mean domino isn't much of a mask, but most probably wouldn't mind if it was upgraded to a cowl...

According to KC Walsh, Superman had another faceless cameo in the last Black Adam screening: https://twitter.com/TheComixKid/stat...11027772661760

Well, in this case we can expect a recast of the role post-Flash, I guess.

Maybe Cavill doesn't want to waste time in a few secs cameo but he'll be okay to be a co-star in Black Adam 2. idk. It can go either way.

Nah if that was on the table and he was open to it, he would be showing up to help set that up.

Yeah, it looks negotiations fell with Hamada, but you never know with new people in charge. I'll see one movie at the time how it evolves.

The Black Adam's post credit is something like: spoilers:
Waller/Viola Davis meeting with Supes telling there's someone that can beat him/stronger than him
end of spoilers. Setting up the sequel.

I'm hoping that this puts the nail in the coffin for Cavill's Superman and we can finally move on with someone new who is hopefully a better actor.

This doesn't inspire me with confidence. I've never been keen for the Rock's Black Adam Kicks Superman's Ass: The Movie.

That's Dwayne Johnson for you. Can never be less than 1a.

Hah maybe Cavill didn’t want to come back just to get his ass kicked by the Rock ? Black Adam 2 being an adaption of Superman/Shazam vs. Black Adam could be fun, but no way would the Rock ever allow himself to lose.
