As much as I love so many of these limbo heroes, I think that right now DC needs to focus on getting good writers and editors; and then reestablish their a-list Heroes. Then we can see about bringing some of these others back in.

(When DC needs to reestablish it's a list heroes, you know they're in trouble.)

But how does DC go about doing that these days?

"Good", established writers are less likely to want to work on books / characters that they (the writers) don't own / control, especially when there are may other opportunities for them publishing-wise.

The Weird - Loved the original mini-series, was glad he was a part of Stormwatch briefly.

I'll second Chronos!!! A great book that ended too soon!
I'd add Black Condor and Aztek too.

Or the bigger elephant in the room is fans and some store owners want to dictate who those writers are. Along with dictating who is A list or not.

Some of these writers who get hate around here have no issue going to other companies and with NO list leads beat DC books.

While other writers are NOT welcomed the moment they are hired. Fans scream for good writers but tend to act like those writers have to meet certain terms.

You want good writers-be willing to accept whatever form they come in. I am tired of hearing "Bendis or Lobdell stink" and got a dissertation to explain why month after month on the books they do.

While others get called everything and nobody can explain why because they never read the book that they are writing.

A list is the LAST thing DC needs to concern themselves with.

Jaime Reyes has a movie coming-he needs material for trades after not having anything for near 5 years.
    Peacemaker needs stuff too.
    Stargirl and JSA too.
    John Stewart too.

A list means nothing. Right now.

Black Condor could be the Crime Syndicate counterpart to Hawkman or Hawkwoman.

    It worked for Johnny Quick.

Don't we already have a Crime Syndicate version of Hawkman?

    Several.

I was not impressed by the creativity of any of them.

And there is the added pressure of TPTB. Do writers even get to do a true run anymore at all?

Marvel's success proves your point in a way. But then they didn't start with icons on the order of DC. Instead they forged icons
