I'm surprised no one here's brought up the idea that it was Ben for the majority of the Beyond run and after they did the last memory wipe on him he fell into a coma and Maxine had them upload his remaining memories into Spidercide. Feels like the easiest way to go about it.
I did it. Maybe in the Ben thread or here.

To be fair, there were numerous references that Beyond had other people in mind to become their Spider-Man if it didn't work out with Ben -- but this was never followed up with actual characters being shown as the backups. The only character that appeared in the storyline that could've been a backup was Ricochet, and even then, it was never stated to be so in any of his appearances. So yeah, you could easily retcon Spidercide into being a back-up.
And after the weird way that Spidercide saved Ben in the last issue of BR:SM, you could go the route that Spidercide became confused about who he is and believed himself to be Ben.
I don't love the idea, but if executed well -- and giving both Ben and 'Cide satisfacatory new status quos -- I could warm up to something along these lines happening.
-Pav, who would go about fixing things a little differently...
You were Spider-Man then. You and Peter had agreed on it. But he came back right when you started feeling comfortable.
You know what it means when he comes back.
"You're not the better one, Peter. You're just older."

Personally, I'd settle for Spidercide using his brain-melding powers to give back to Ben what Beyond took from him --- the foundational memories of being Peter Parker that undergirded his psychological structure --- and then, as Ben's own memories of his life reconstruct themselves, he can get some serious therapy (maybe from Samson, if Kafka is still Queen Goblin) to overcome what Beyond did to him.
The spider is always on the hunt.
