I mean, Mario with a star can last for a bit, I guess, but I'm not aware of anything that can actually give the plumber any actual advantage over Supes.

Pretty much everything is magical. So if Supes just stands there and lets Mario hit him with a fireball or something it might actually hurt.

Speed will still be an issue, but with Mario being composite, he'll have several means of time stop, where, if he survives the initial rush, which he should considering the stuff he can survive in the recent games, he could just power up with a star and possibly, even likely, hurt or kill Superman. I think that with it being composite, Mario will likely win around five or six out of ten or so, but even with all his stuff, Superman will not be a pushover. The only thing I can be sure of is that the fight likely won't last more than few seconds, regardless of who wins.

What time stops does Mario have? Mega Man, sure... But the only Time Stop I know of from Mario was literally in his dreams.

Mario travels from planet to planet by being shot out of a really big cannon.
He can resist the pull of a black hole by swimming from it. In space.
He can pick up and throw castles.
He once destroyed the sun by throwing a turtle shell at it.

    Mario is a monster.

The problem is that composite Mario dislikes fireballs and hates lava. Lava is the one thing that pretty much KO's him any time. So, if Superman blitzes him and flies him straight into a volcano, that should take him out before Mario gets going.

The problem is only destroying a sun is particularly notable on the scale of Superman, and if we are taking ridiculous things at face value Superman breaks chains that tug suns around.

Mario can go 2 dimensional. Which might give him an edge of Superman's speed.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

If he's got the star though, anything that hits him dies. Including the sun and/or bosses like Bowser IIRC.

You do realize all of those things are smaller than a house right? They aren't exactly anywhere close to scale here.

Not really. I gave the tested limits we've seen it work on.

Mario is not that strong, until he gets the Star.

The thing about Mario is that stuff in the Mario universe is nothing like stuff in the real world. Cannons are not like real cannons. Suns are not like real suns. Turtle shells are not like real turtle shells. I have not seen the black hole, but I assume it is not like real black holes. In the Mario universe cannons shoot stuff about as fast as you can run, for example.
