They'd surely have to update the timeline. Can't have it kicking off in 1999 like the series did originally lol. Also, do you start from the beginning and let things play out or do you do In Medias Res and have flashbacks unfold as you go filling in the gaps?

the original saga is too long. I hope that a new story is created that is "respectful" but not slavish to the original narratives.

That's the beauty of it. If they pull it off they can get multiple films out of it and make trilogies for each saga. They'd need to work magic on The Masters though. Damn that was a slog.

Speaking of Robotech, did you liked the recent Titan Comics series?
It did took some pretty weird turns every here and there and they managed to make Minmei even more unlikable.

Minmei was barely smiling and treated Rick like trash.
Both of them grand weird vision powers after they were expoese to Protoculture energy during SDF-1's folding to Pluto.
Captain Clobal dies during the first transformation of SDF-1 and Lisa takes command. She even wears Clobal's hat. The Main Gun never managed to reactivate even after transforming.
There were clone sheninigans and it was implied this version of the story was a parallel universe in which Dana Sterling from the animated version is transpoted and remains there.
Robotech Remix, the follow up series was meant to resolve Dana's story but it was cancelled after two or three issues.
