With the recent update on the rumored Ta-Nehisi Coates Superman reboot script, I decided to make a thread about my own idea for a Superman film for fun.
- Film opens with a montage of the origin (Krypton exploding, landing on Earth, growing up in Smallville, moving to Metropolis…), just to get that out of the way since Superman’s origin is kind of well known.
- We open on a scene with Clark and Lois walking down the streets of Metropolis/sitting at a café/Bibbo’s diner, having a chatty discussion about some topics. (Lois knowing Clark’s secret undecided)
- Suddenly an explosion occurs caused by what seems to be Intergang wearing power armor. Clark sneaks out to change into Superman.
- After several superheroics, Superman makes fast work out many Intergang members, which lead to the remaining to unleash their “secret weapon”.
- The weapon was revealed to be what seems to be a homeless man, who suddenly unleashes incredible shockwaves that takes Superman off guard and down on the ground.
- The homeless man goes berserk causing several damages.
- Superman gets up and saves many civilians from the damages before walking towards the homeless man despite struggling due to the mental pain from shockwave.
- The homeless man suddenly looks at Superman as if he was possessed by an outside force noting “I have the information I needed to confirm that you are indeed one of the last of your people like Kandor.” and collapses, dying from the pain of his powers. Superman quickly uses his X-ray vision to scan for the cause of his death, notices a weird symbol on the man’s brain that suddenly vanishes leaving a scar.
- Cut to Superman and Lois at the Metropolis police department, where they find out from the police that Intergang were provided the weapons and the homeless man from an anonymous source, they both suspect Lex Luthor.
- Cut to Superman at Star Labs where the scientists examine the homeless man’s corpse, they find a small piece of a tech that was part of the symbol Superman though.
- It seems to be of alien origin, which makes Superman feel even more uneasy about the homeless man’s (or to be more precise whoever was channeling his thoughts through the man’s mouth) words.
- Lex Luthor has been doing some experimentations with the help of a mysterious scientist who promised him great power that would help his company and all of mankind.
- A good chunk of the story involves Clark and Lois investigating the whole mystery behind the homeless man and Intergang’s mysterious source as a way to highlight the whole investigative journalism aspect that doesn’t receive much attention in Superman films.
- Superman spends some time in his Fortress of Solitude trying to look up Krypton’s database on the mysterious disappearance of Kandor City and if that was some connection.
- More people with similar mental abilities appeared causing problems that Superman had to solve. We also find out that Lex’s mysterious partner is a human vessel for an alien entity behind the outbreak.
- These people are revealed to be people experimented on to serve as a connection for an alien ship and Metropolis is engulfed in a massive light. Superman returns, only to find Metropolis completely gone.
- Meanwhile in the currently shrunk Metropolis, Lois, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen along with others reluctantly agree to form an alliance with Lex Luther, who is furious for being double crossed by Brainiac as they try to find a way to contact Superman.
- Superman was able to track down the alien ship using a reconstructed version of the rocket ship that took him to Earth as an infant and comes face to face with the alien known as Brainiac, his ship is filled with bottled cities including Metropolis.
- Brainiac notes that though capturing Metropolis was part of his plan, encountering Superman added some extra satisfaction.
- Brainiac also reveals he used the same process on other worlds he deemed were already destined for self-destruction, including Krypton, arguing his methods were “humane”.
- Superman tries to fight Brainiac but is quickly subdued by the ships security weapons and Superman is engulfed in a beam of light.
- Superman wakes to find himself on a bed and is then greeted by people who appeared to be Kryptonian like him and is greeted Nor-Kann, an old friend of Superman’s father Jor-El. He realizes he is in the lost city of Kandor.
- Kandor is blessed under an artificial red sunlight, which is meant to keep Superman or other Kryptonians powers at bay.
- He is told that the shrinking process is permanent but Metropolis is still under a temporary statis but time is running out.
- Superman forms a plan to confront Brainiac and free the bottled cities, though some of reluctant, others gladly join in including Van-Zee and Ak-Var (based on the Pre-Crisis comic counterparts who also went under the superhero identities of Nightwing and Flamebird).
- Nor-Kann, being a scientist, found a way to reverse the shrinking process though only temporary.
- Thanks to Luther, Lois is able to contact Superman, to tell them of their plan.
- With the help of Lex and Star Lab’s scientists were able to rewire one of Brainiac’s tech in order to deactivate the artificial red sun, giving the Kryptonians powers.
- Superman with an army of Kandor’s citizens escape the bottle and use Nor-Kann’s device in order to grow to normal size.
- They battle Brainiac’s battle robots before confronting Brainiac himself in a battle suit.
- During the battle, Nor-Kann who didn’t grow himself in order to sneak outside the bottle, is able to reverse Metropolis’ shrinking process and transfer the city back to Earth.
- The other Kryptonians shrink back but Superman remains his normal size since the shrinking process wasn’t fully finished.
- Superman defeats Brainiac after a hard-fought battle. Brainiac tries to launch a desperate attack but accidently hits the ships systems, causing it to malfunction.
- The explosion causing several of the bottled cities’ glass to crack so Superman quickly grabs them and places them in his ship.
Brainiac tries to stop him, so Superman presses the rocket ship’s guidance system so it would automatically return to his fortress while he takes on Brainiac.
- Brainiac is apparently destroyed in his ship’s explosion as Superman escapes.
- Back on Earth, Lex Luthor is able to sway the public that he was an innocent victim of Brainiac’s plot and is able to make himself look like a hero, assisting Superman in defeating the alien menace, much to Lois’ disgust.
- We cut back to the Fortress of Solitude where we find out Superman is able to save the citizens of the other cracked cities by transferring them to a much larger bottle where Kandor is placed in (this inspired by the 90s Post-Crisis version of Kandor, which was filled with different alien races).
- Superman communicates with Nor-Kann promising to find a way to reverse the process for good and is then interrupted by a report of some problems in Metropolis caused by one of Superman’s foes (Metallo, Parasite or any Superman villain can be inserted here).
- The film ends with Superman defeating the villain and flies towards the camera.
And this is why idea for a Superman film. Got any Superman movie ideas you like to share?
