After the monumental events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #4, Pariah has successfully resurrected the infinite Multiverse...and all of reality is still reeling from the event. Dark Crisis: Big Bang #1 is a haunting journey through these newly re-formed realities, from The Jurassic League to DC: Mech...from Dark Knights of Steel to Batman’89 and back again...in a guest-star-galore all-new epic by comics legend and DC architect Mark Waid.
In the main cover, we have Wonder Woman from the cover of Phil Jimenez's Historia, so she's officially in some universe/earth.
Fairly certain that was Hippolyta on the cover of Historia #1 but neat enough.
Shame she's got to share a cover with Superman and Batman in their cosplay attire.
You know, another reason to wish Wonder Woman wasn't in a shared universe is she wouldn't get dragged into these damn omniverse-megaverse-hypertime-uberverse-whateververse stories.
I mean, what even the hell is this claptrap supposed to mean:
Seriously, DC's cosmic lore is so goddamn stupid and they're only making it worse the more they dig.
Not even just Diana, no one should have to be tethered to this crap.
-That's definitely Knightwing from the Bryne's Superman/Batman: Generation I (one of the best Elseworlds imo) with WW from the Amazonia Elseworlds.
-Third one is DCHSG WW with one of the henchmen from Burton's '89 Batman movie.
I like the Multiverse. I don't really need a Omniverse or a Metaverse or even Hypertime. I like shared universes but not when they come at the expense of what makes individual characters unique.
Problem with Dark Crisis is that its so devoid and life less. All style no substance. You can do epic cross overs as long as you have a stable universe with a strong foundation and that's just not DC right now. So all this just feels blah.

Actually I disagree. So far, Dark Crisis has been way more character focused than most recent events. All the tie ins are about character driven, not plot driven. Doesn't mean the characters are all well written (Young Justice being a clear example of that)

I know there are people around here who like Geoff Johns, but I think he's just the hack to end all hacks and this page is exactly why - the parts that are actually cogent are beyond obvious and the rest is nonsense. It's the work of a man whose media literacy was built entirely on superhero comics. And his decision to cop the aesthetic trappings of Watchmen is just icing on the cake.
I'm all about esotericism when it actually means something (Promethea is one of my all-time favorite comics), but Geoff Johns would randomly splatter some paint on a canvas and call it modern art.
Everyone cares.
