While debatable, May was brought back from death and she was written exactly the way she was in the 60s.
Two wrongs don't make a right, but the post-reveal May was ten times more compelling.

Jameson's been utterly wasted as a character for a while now. They took all of his own supporting casts away, wife, son, even father (though I didn't like Jay) and learning the identity didn't suddenly give him a new coat of paint, nor did pairing him with Cindy (I mean, really, who does care about whatever Cindy's doing? She honestly has no purpose either and often has generic stories any Spider-heroine could have), he's been forgotten in the core book since Spencer.

I don’t see why people want to reduce his cast to the woman he has sex with and the guys that he beats up.

The newspaper version was one such publication that went decades focusing on just Peter, MJ, Jameson, Randy, occasionally May, and the antagonists, some of whom were brand new creations rather than established villains.

There was more of the supporting cast when the strip started, like Harry and Flash and original love interests, but it mostly dried up in favour of more MJ.

The only times May has remotely sounded like MJ are Trouble and the final page of OMD where she called Peter "tiger".
