I don't think Marvel have never 'understood' that, they have allowed for grown-up Peters in the past, it's just they don't prefer that for their audience.

Was that the Clone Conspiracy: Omega issue? If so, best part of that whole sorry event. Spider-Man empathizing with Rhino's pain at having the one he loved most seemingly returned to him, only to die once again in front of him, a pain he himself was experiencing, and using that to get him to stop rampaging . . . that was a truly beautiful moment. Shame the rest of the event didn't measure up.

Forever disappointed that we didn't see MC2 Peter's reaction to a variant of his uncle, with his powers, moved in with his family after he died. I do expect Spider-Uncle Ben to get involved too, of course.

Yes, a very good point. MC2 Peter, assuming he even returned to his family, has The Other, possibly the full use of his lost leg, and has an Uncle Ben again. He ought to have been left in a far better state than most other versions of Peter (other than RYV Peter, who raised a GOD with his wife)
