It's both wishful thinking and based on what I consider to (maybe) be a clue? His appearance in X-Men Unlimited #35—the first installation of a six-part series centered on him—seems like it might turn out to be a prelude to his joining the team. Alex Paknadel's work with him is great so far and made him both interesting and endearing. Plus, Maggott, as it turns out, really admires and respects "Ms. Grey," so that never hurts.

Duggan already said he's not letting go of Synch and it's looking likely Iceman joins based on an artist's post, who knows if they'll change some of Rogue/Sunfire/Polaris/Wolverine with other members aside from the winner of the vote

Oh interesting thought Synch was dunzo after his shenanigans. Although his and Lauras story doesn't seem close to rapping up. He seems to have done nothing with Shiro Lorna or Rogue so it would be a pity to sideline them without a journey
