Default Everything Matters: community character read guides

Wait this is not a thread complaining or questioning the present state of DC comics continuity.

It's just that now that everything matters and DC can reference other stories (regardless of reboots and timeline changes) some people are probably going to be confused. So let's be helpful fans to one another, by letting people know key stories that either have been referenced as of late or really inform the character(s) and can help people start reading books they want to get into.

I'll get started with some characters in separate posts following this original post that are specific to the character. However, don't be afraid to just jump in with your own additions to characters and lists.

I'm starting with a character that I genuinely like and who no one would think to start with. Plus this list is not to entirely long.

    Khalid Nassour- Dr. Fate.

His journey is very recent and his story is pretty straightforward

DCyou's Dr. Fate Ongoing series by Paul Levitz
Justice League Dark (JLD backups) by James Tynion and Ram V

Crisis on Infinite Earth by Marv Wolfman

By the way I’m not singularly doing Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman as we know them. There’s 80 years of history there and no way would anyone agree, that would need a poll or something.

I'm doing the Green Lanterns today, so about 9 characters total my god, and I'm starting with my personal favorite....Alan Scott. That's right my favorite is the 100 year old man who isn't even a corps member. Long live the JSA!....*ahem*

All-Star Comics by Paul Levitz and Gerry Conway
    America vs the Justice Society
JSA and Justice Society of America by Geoff Johns
    Doomsday Clock by Geoff Johns
    Infinite Frontier by Joshua Williamson

I really wish I knew the issues where Alan hung out with Kyle Rayner, but it was around Zero Hour. If someone knows please help.

Green Lantern/Green Arrow: Hard Traveling Heroes by Dennis O'Neal
Emerald Twilight by Ron Marz (look it gets brought up as changing continuity, there is no avoiding it)

Final Night by Karl Kesel (it starts to get better)
Green Lantern: Rebirth by Geoff Johns (the beginning of greatness)
Green Lantern: Sinestro corps war by Geoff Johns
Green Lantern Blackest Night by Geoff Johns
Darkseid War: Green Lantern by Tom King
Green Lantern: Black Stars by Grant Morrison

    Far Sector
    Green Lantern by Geoff Thorne
Maybe Future State Justice League, it’s an odd choice but it does give you a taste of her character

    Batwoman (Kate Kane)

    52
    Batwoman: Elegy

Batwoman: Elegy is key. Greg Rucka wrote it the way he did as a guide to Kate for future writers.
