It was boring and a complete dead end storywise, as we inevitably just got scenes of Peter saying how great Jay was (rather than once acting anything less than saint-like and resenting him), while Jonah stewed even though what does he really care. If she had hooked up with the original abusive one, that at least generates the potential for conflict. Even Nathan had the gambling problem or whatever. I should have clarified, originally the abusive Wells version WAS Jonah's father, but they retconned it to introduce Jay. I thought the whole thing was so awkward but it's a not interesting side plot that undid the point of the original story- that Jonah was who he was because he both resented and wanted his father's respect. A stepfather/uncle is a completely different dynamic.
