Default DC Next Dawn - June Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, JUNE 2022!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    AQUAMAN #20
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by GEOFF JOHNS
    Art by JIM LEE
“THE WAR FOR ATLANTIS” part two “BOILING SEA”
Aquaman almost convinced Black Adam to end the Atlantis-Kahndaq conflict. Almost. But then Adam discovered that Arthur Curry no longer possessed the divinity of Poseidon. Emboldened at this shift in the hierarchy of power, Adam leads Kahndaq to war!
It’s first front: the Fisherman Kingdom, where deep denizens are more fish than man. Nanaue, better known as “King Shark,” prepares to hold the line. This initial clash will answer many questions: How will Kandaqi forces fare on an aquatic battlefield? How unified is Atlantis’ defenses? And how much of a game-changer is the involvement of Black
    Adam himself?
Vandal Savage’s connections within international media and governance have been leveraged to convince the public that Atlantis is dangerous and should be under Kahndaq control. As a result, Aquaman has few allies to turn to… save, perhaps, for Savage’s other enemies. The conspiratorial immortal’s “Humanity First” agenda resulted in an old friend of Arthur’s from the Starro Wars being arrested, detained, and charged with espionage. But if Arthur and Crablad can liberate J’onn J’onnz from prison, might Mars itself come to Atlantis’ aid? It’s an assault on the Las Tunas Detention Center to liberate the Martian Manhunter!
But when Mera makes a critical mistake, has she just, proverbially, s**t the bed?
    BONUS
    Father’s Day Special: “EGG-XCELLENT”
During mating, the male crab carries the female on his back for two weeks, after which the female stores his sperm in sacs on her abdomen for later use on eggs. It is on Father’s Day that Crablad honors that noble two-week sacrificial burden and the subsequent lifetime of support. Thanks, Crabdad!

    DETECTIVE COMICS #26
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by FRANK MILLER
    Art by SEAN GORDON MURPHY
    “LEGACY OF KANE”
The Wayne lineage is long and storied, as Batman recently discovered. It stretches from his great-grandfather Patrick Wayne, who fought Nazis in the 1930s, to Revolutionary War hero Thaddeus Wayne, to the swashbuckling founder of Gotham, Edmond Wayne, all the way back to Sir Gawain of Arthur’s Round Table. Yet the Wayne legacy is not all Bruce inherited…
His mother was a Kane, an almost equally impressive pedigree that boasts at least one famous hero - the Puritan who devoted his life to vanquishing evil: Solomon Kane!
With flintlock pistols and rapier in hand, the sixteenth and seventeenth century saw Solomon battle pirates, vampires, and all manner of sadistic fiends. His death, though, remains undocumented and it is rumored that Solomon may still be vanquishing evil today….
Could the genealogical cult that’s been haranguing Bruce Wayne be enemies of the Kane line and his Puritan ancestor? And could this result in a team-up centuries in the making?

    THE FLASH #35
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
    “CAT SCRATCH LEADER” part one
While undercover within the World Organization for Advancement of Humanity, Barry Allen encountered S’kidd-Flash and the Savothians: aliens who worship the Flash because, in the distant past, Flash saved their race for invading Cheetahs. But how’d that happen?
    The past. Africa.
Barbara Minerva, an archeologist of some renown, is hired by a wealthy benefactor named Vandal Savage and asked to lead an expedition to uncover the lost city of Urzkartagan.
Savage, as always, has ulterior motives. In particular, he wants to scout an isolated location where he can test the Speed Force’s ability to hyper-evolve advanced mammals (in this case, gorillas (see THE FLASH #8 for the creation of Gorilla City!)).
But when Barbara’s team is captured by natives and slated for human sacrifice, her only hope may be the activation of the latent metagene that Savage knows she possesses. Is her transformation purely scientific, as Savage believes, or are the natives correct - has she become an avatar of the vengeful Cheetah god? And if so, to what ultimate purpose? And will any of her team or the natives survive?
The much more distant past. Planet Savoth.
“For Queen Minerva! For the Acinonyx Jubatus!”
The Acinonyx Jubatus are apex predators; a mighty pride of Cheetahs. Since their Queen materialized, they have evolved from solitary nomads into a formidable force prepared to seize control of all Savoth’s primary cities.
This is the home, kinship, and acceptance that Barbara Minerva always wanted… and she found it a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. In this place and time, no one can stand in her way. No one… accept the Flash?! But how and why is he here - in the past, on another world - in her moment of triumph?

    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “MISDIRECTION”
Attention: All Green Lantern Corpsman from Sector 2814, covering planet Earth of the Sol System, are to report to Oa for assignment reassessment immediately.

The Green Lantern Corps may have accepted Hal Jordan back into their ranks, but Earth has not! The United Nations, with subtle and not-so-subtle influence by the illuminatus Vandal Savage, has send a firm “revocation of jurisdiction” to Oa. Earth no longer wants the Green Lanterns to have any operational authority in their system… so what’s to become of Hal, John, Guy, and Jessica?
Meanwhile, Earth’s World Organization for Advancement of Humanity (W.O.A.H.), with its specialized teams of metahumans, is capitalizing on the Lantern’s bureaucratic quagmire. The Ungarans, space-faring aliens neighboring Earth’s system, have an observation station orbiting Neptune. The W.O.A.H. wants it gone. W.O.A.H. Agent Killer Frost leads her ED-1 (the elite unit of the Elemental Division) on a sortie to claim the outpost for Earth.
When the Green Lanterns from Earth receive the Ungaran S.O.S., will they take action and risk another intergalactic incident?

    'VOLUNTARILY INTO THE MADHOUSE'
•The Super Nazis have a hypergate able to open portals to other dimensions and realities. Why settle for one Earth when you can carve swastikas on the moons over every Earth?
•MA'ALEFA'AK. Malefactor. Betrayer. Pyromancer. Survivor. He burned almost every Green Martian alive out of spite for not sharing their telepathy, and here he is on another almost dead world. His invisibility and intangibility kept him hidden from even ÜBER and FRÄULEIN FÜRST's enhanced senses but not from the two who stalk him now through the most heavily guarded section of the ÜBERREICH's American headquarters.
•ALTER ADELE is also the last of her race, differing from Green Martians only in skin colour, and she hears Ma'alefa'ak's vile thoughts screaming in her mind as she stalks him with similar invisibility and intangibility. As a proud member of die Wölfinnen der Schutzstaffel, it was her red planet zooxanthellae which turned Earth's oceans crimson and killed everything within.
•DIE DAME is almost the last of her race. When Über's gene-bombs killed 99% of humanity, crippled another .9%, and granted the remaining .1% superpowers, HELENA KYLE knew she had been chosen for a higher purpose. While most survivors had useless abilities, Fräulein Fürst's selective breeding program would birth a true fighting force within two generations. Like Alter Adele, Die Dame was an elite She Wolf of the SS, and her cloaking ability and burning touch which inflicted unbearable physical and psychic pain plus eventual death made her a perfect assassin.
•Reduced to a quivering puddle of goo on contact with Die Dame, Ma'alefa'ak hopes the women who suddenly appear to fight the She-Wolves are on his side. Little does he know that MISTRESS WOMAN, BATTLEDRESS, LANTERN ARROW, and the rest of the AVENGING ALLIES don't plan on leaving anyone live on the eastern seaboard on this suicide mission!

    THE QUESTION #35
    Writer: MARK RUSSELL
    Artist: BILL SIENKIEWICZ
    Plotter: CaptCleghorn
“Where in the World is Charles Victor Szasz?”
Part 7b: “How Are You Feeling, Mr. Sage?”
The last thing Vic remembers is walking across the Boston Common after his taping to look for the Cheers bar when he felt a tightness in his chest. The nighttime lights started to blind him and then nothing. He awoke to find himself strapped to a hospital bed with a tube down his throat. Eventually, he discovered he was at St. Eligius hospital in Boston’s South End. Cat Grant was at his bedside unhappy because there was no crowd wondering what had happening to Vic. She was happy the tox screen came back clean.
Luckily Vic’s coronary angiogram showed almost no blockage and he was discharged after a couple of days. However, he was put on a few prescriptions, told to maintain a regular healthy diet, and not to overexert himself. For the host of a television program that is doable, but for a masked adventurer running around half the night beating up bad guys? That’s a good question. Next stop, New York City.

One of everything shall be bought. Let this be known forum wide!

AQUAMAN #20 (Am I seeing an Egghead appearance foreshadowed? Is Tec 27 going to be all Bat '66 villains?)
BAT-WING #35 (Hmmm, South Africa isn't as close to the South Pole as I thought. Then again, this is a funny book and connections have a funny way of working out.)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #35 (Connor thought Richard Dragon was his only parent? Obviously they never had the birds and bees talk. And having "Tale of Dickie Dragon must have gotten old fast.)
DETECTIVE COMICS #26 (The In Laws. 'Nuff said.)
THE FLASH #35 (Didn't I just mention those travel connections working out in funny books?)
GREEN LANTERN #35 (Earth doesn't want the Green Lanterns? Did the UN mention Neptune? I don't think so. A big green loophole.)
HOUSE OF S #2 (Reconstruction? Damn. Traffic rerouting, commuting delays. And a lost dog. But at least the Supermen aren't wearing the same thing.)
JLAlien #6 (How do the super nazis manage carving a flat swastika on a round moon? That's gonna look weird from some angle.)
LEGION OF S #2 (Earth. Always causing Crises and blocking Mars' view of Venus. Why don't we eradicate that planet? The solar eclipses are fabulous, that's why.)
MAN OF BRONZE #10 (Gotham to London and a possible side trip to Despa. Beware the cursed jet lag, Man of Bronze.)
POWERS OF S #2 (Ex-girlfriends of the good guys and bad guys who are trying to resurrect his dead wife? Siunds like an interesting conflict.)
THE QUESTION #35 (Using a whole page for Vic's rant about hospital Jell-O was a bit much.)
I’ll don the mask and wear the cape
If I am super, how can I wait?
