That’s my hope for the hearings as well. There was no sugarcoating what the nation heard and watched last night, the insanity was on full display while several high ranking administrators figures, including Bill Barr and Ivanka straight up told Trump his claims of the election having been stolen were bogus.

And, by the by, for Qpublicans to support the mob that stormed the Capitol, saying that treasonous rabble were “engaging in political discourse” when they were violently attacking Capitol Police like Officer Edwards who testified last night means they DON’T “back the blue” and have ZERO right to EVER say that they do! Never again!

Unfortunately I don’t think this will change a thing. 50% of the country gets their alternative facts from Fox News, Newsmax, etc. and even incontrovertible proof of a coup wouldn’t sway them.

Also, the American public has shown that they don’t really care if one party is trying to destroy democracy and is openly promoting white nationalist views, as long as the price of gas is lower when they’re in power it’s all good.

This simply isn't true, Fox's average viewership is 1.5 million, the others in the hundreds of thousands at best. And they number of die hard Republican voters is probably 20%. The problem is the bulk of the independent and swing voters who don't pay much attention and don't see or don't care what is happening.
The contry is not 50/50 on most of the issues that divide us. But the Republican minority have an outsized voice in our Government. For instance, there was a 7 million vote difference between Parties in our current 50/50 Senate.

The testimony of Officer Edwards on what happened during the riot was chilling.

Capitol and D.C. Metro police testified before Congress July 27tu of last year and described their individual experiences from Jan. 6.
If anyone hasn’t watched those testimonies they really should. Absolutely disgusting behavior from the “peaceful protesters” that day. I’ll try to provide a link later.

That one surprised me. She's always been Daddy's girl. But I've also read that she and Jared always thought they would be big wheels in NYC society but they really were naive about that. Trump has never been popular in NYC so they are poison to that crowd.

Liz Cheney's summing up at the end was great.

People need to take another look at this, especially the moderate Republicans who might vote for Trump and hold their nose. What he did was treasonous. I was watching former AG Eric Holder's interview on Bill Maher last week and he said he can't understand what is taking so long for Trump to be indicted for trying to get the Georgia's Secretary of State Bill Raffensberger to find enough votes to flip the Georgia election in his favor. They have the audio. As Cheney's summing up said, there's enough on him and Steve Bannon to show that they orchestrated January 6th with the Proud Boys. He may not have directly communicated to the Proud Boys but they got the message loud and clear.

.....so why is this taking so long to indict Trump??

It's a sensitive trial, and the investigation process has been delayed by Covid protocols, so it was never going to be fast.

Another wrinkle is that to indict you need to have proof that a crime was committed, and that it isn't something that falls in the category of shady but legal. Sometimes the evidence requires proving a particular context. For example, if Trump consistently acted like he believed that there are tens of thousands of ballots in Georgia that haven't been counted, "find me 11,780 votes," isn't a lay-up.
