He was one of (still is I guess) the coolest looking characters and was actually popular for a time. I haven't read the new X-Force because I really hate the designs.

Is there anything happening with him in Secret Wars?

There was a hint/tease by Dugan that there might be some Cable and Deadpool in or after SW.

I've not read Cable for long but the recent looks I've seen were from Hopeless CaTXF and Spurrier X-F.

I gotta say that I like Spurrier's look more.

what happened to Cable?

this happened: he had a normal characterization/evolution ointo something more than a "90s antihero with guns", first in his own comic then in cable & deadpool...

and they suddenly stopped thinking about it and regressed him to his 90s persona for no good reason.

For me it was probably this one:



The Jim Lee version from X-Tinction Agenda. Either that, or maybe the Olivetti look from the Cable series with Hope. And third I'd say the most recent X-Force version with the camouflage pants, but minus the headband and eyepatch.
