    Default Totems or Mindswap

    Which one was worse?

While JMS and Slott have their strong points in their runs, which one did you think could've handled things better? With JMS's infamy of Sin's Past and OMD and Dan's Slott grip on the idiot ball for SSM, which would you say was better, could've been handled better, or was just very bad?

Never read Sins Past/One More Day but I liked the totems aspect in the JMS Spider-Man stories I have read, particularly Coming Home. I enjoyed Superior Spider-Man apart from the odd things. Both the totems/Sins Past/OMD and SpOck are two of the most controversal things in Spidey's long history. Be interesting to see the reactions with the new community here.

Your whole premise here is leading. Neither were bad IMO.

    Do you mean misleading?
w/e I get the point your making. Both stories weren't bad at all considering both writers really enjoyed their work at the time.

No, I meant "leading" as in the statement forces one to say that JMS' work was worthy of "infamy" or Slott's "grip on the idiot ball". Not a particularly nice or fair way to offer up a choice; much better/more accurate to ask which story one prefers IMO.

Well I didn't mind the totem thing whereas I didn't like the mind swap at all so I voted for the mind swap.

Oh ok. Never saw someone use it like that before.

changed the poll to not be about the writer, but instead the story.

Can Sins Past and OMD really be considered part of the Totem saga?

Technically, there was foreshadowing in Sins Past of Spider-Man's illness in "The Other."

And I guess all the unanswered questions from "The Other" (How did Morlun come back? What exactly was wrong with Peter?) are part of the totem saga.

I didn't think the totem saga was bad, but the mindswap was more fun, and came with a complete beginning, middle and end.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

I voted totem story. Thought Superior was great. The totem stuff is weird for me (although the story was somewhat enjoyable).

Spider-Totem. Radically redefines Spider-Man's origin and turns him into a 'Chosen One'. I also can't take the 'idiot ball' argument seriously at all.

I voted Spider-Totem,because it changes Spider-Man origin quite a bit from what it is from Stan Lee stories. Why change a perfect origin story?
I was neither a fan of Spider-Man Chapter One by John Byrne as well.

The mindswap was a no issue to me,after spending years reading super hero comic books the mindswap is not as bad as was the redefinition of Spidey origin to me.

Mindswap was way worse than the totem.

The mindswap was a lot better.

The totem stuff was good, especially if it ended when Jr Jr did instead of that whole 'Other' business, but Superior was fantastic. Not much can top it.
