Default Kieron Gillen interviews Gerry Duggan re: X-Men #12 on his podcast Decompressed

I haven't listened yet, but I'm going to now.

Jean Grey in the words of Walt Whitman, from his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, "Song of Myself" (51 and 52):

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

"Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

I really like Duggan. He seems chill, humble, and easy to chat with. He praised Gillen’s work and admitted that he’s not at his level. If I remember correctly, he called Gillen’s work complex, intelligent, and/or graceful. I didn’t take any notes, although I meant to.

He did talk about an upcoming three-issue arc that he wrote for year two that he seems really proud of and that apparently took a lot out of him. He needed a break. He highlighted Lorna as a surprising standout for him and almost confirmed that she is leaving the team but steered away from doing so quickly and intelligently. However, he did say we should expect some interesting guest stars, including one major, well-known character, along with some of year one’s team members.

He said even the members that leave the team will still have a special relationship to this constantly changing team, and we can expect to see them again. I think he said something to the effect of this team being the genesis of a separate family within a family, i.e., Krakoa, that will continue to grow as new members join.

I plan on listening again to get the fine points down.

Edit: Gillen’s voice is so sexy to me. :-x

So who are confirmed to be in the new team?

The podcast waffle too much and I can't seem to catch anything.

I love the idea of an alumni of this iteration of the X-Men, with perhaps a reunion every few years at the Treehouse. Which can of course get crashed by some big bad villain that requires the teamwork of all the members past and present.

    Hellion confirmed! Thank you, Duggan.

I'm kind of iffy on this point. There will probably be 7 new members and he couldn't juggle a cast that size well enough. If the old characters come by, I don't expect much from them.
