Thanos threatens to keep littering the planet using the trash from the universe so that Planeteers step in to stop him.
Captain Planet is not allowed to be summoned.
Fight takes place in a terrain where each of the Planeteers have access to their respective elements.

Unless Thanos pretty much stands still and lets Gi drown him, I don't think they can actually do anything to him
